deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) to know the authentication of a child. Ekpo Nka Owo is an ancestral spirit of adultery in Ibibio/Annang tribes in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria, it's believed that every married woman should be faithful to her husband, avoidance of extra marital affairs, this is one way through which the society can obtained sanctity.

Ekpo Means ***Masquerade**** Nka Owo means to commit adultery so, this ancestral spirits or ghosts of adultery that's Ekpo Nka Owo helps to regulated, checked, exposed, and even punished very important the infidelity among authentically married women to ensure that there's sanctity of marriage among the Ibibio and the Annang land. Although, the deity was a one sided practice as they failed to also check and regulate the sexual behaviour of the husbands but it was a great instrument in reducing the the infidelity among married women as it's prevail today.
The deity tents to favor the husband even when they committed same
The invention of deoxyribonucleic (DNA) test to know the biological father of a child/children has revealed the impact played by this deity, it's so sympathetic how a man would rise children thinking they are his own but only to realize through DNA test that none are his. The Ekpo Nka Owo exposes and even punish infidelity committed among any married women in Akwa Ibom state. It was a family deity too, the ancestral spirits or ghosts of adultery was practiced not just by some families in Akwa Ibom State but other tribes in Cross River State and Igbo land practices same, if paraventure, a married woman commit adultery then refuses to admit her infidelity for possible cleansing, she dies during childbirth or lose her children. Meanwhile, if her husband is aware of his wife's adulterous acts but refused to expose her for possible cleansing, the deity will claimed his life
It was difficult to see a family without this deity
This practice though was helpful but has claimed so many lives especially the married women as the result of infidelity in marriage, why Ekpo Nka Owo wasn't acting against the married men was that, they believed that a man's infidelity is only a crime against his wife, but that of a woman's infidelity is a stain on the entire land. To be on a save side is to marry to a family that doesn't have the deity but it was difficult to find such family as every family sees Expo Nka Owo as the only means to avoid infidelity among married women in the society.
The prevailing situation has caused many to demand for Expo Nka Owo again in all families
Anytime a married woman is been got by this deity, no amount of prayers or incantation that would solve the problem except she confesses and cleansing and other sacrifices are been done that's why it's was a better option to quit the marriage rather than engaging in extra marital affairs in Ibibio and Annang land
