Market Run!

Happy weekend Naijans! Welcome to my blog.

Fridays are often my shopping days. Although it can be exhausting, I have no choice but to do it.

Earlier that day, I went to Happy Customer Supermarket to buy some groceries.

And you know what? I paid with HBD and got my discount immediately. SpendHBD is the buzzzz. 😅

Armed with a long list of things to buy this weekend, I was happy to check these items off my list. This meant I had fewer things to buy at the market later, so I wouldn't have to spend as much time going from store to store. I then returned to the office to finish work, planning to complete my shopping afterwards.

As soon as I knocked off from work, I headed to the market.

My first stop was at this salad vendor. I bought carrots, green beans, and spring onion. I love using these veggies to prepare jellof rice. I also got beetroot. It's been a while I ate some.

Look at these habanero peppers, so fresh. I was tempted to grab some, but restrained myself since they weren't on my list. No impulse buying this time, hahaha!

A very important item on my list - shaving stick - my dad's special request, so I picked up a pack for him.

The market is mostly busy on weekends, as that is when workers have the chance to shop.

Away from there, I proceeded to buy onions and sweet potatoes. The price of onions has actually gone down a bit. These ones here are ₦500 each. The price drop is definitely a welcome change.

Moving ahead, I spotted a cashew vendor. Oh, it's cashew season!

Although I said no impulse buying, but not when it comes to fruits, lol. Moreover, my mom likes eating cashews, so I bought some.

My shopping would be incomplete without some beefy beef, lol. I bought the neck part and brisket bone too. This combo taste great in soups and stew. The neck cut is flavorful and rises when cooked.

Checking my list, the next item to buy was plantain, so I made my way to the farm produce section - popularly called "Hightlife". Finding a good head of plantain is a bit difficult now. Moreso, they're expensive. The average head I priced was ₦4,000. Well, I wouldn't blame them because the weather hasn't been favorable to farm farm produce, and the cost of transporting these produce from the farm to the market is on the increase. I had no choice but to buy it that way. There's no skipping it because it's my dad's favorite.

I was saddened that I forgot to take snapshots of the plantain before it was packed. However, I captured some farm produce there.

Udara - African Star Apples

I didn't ask to know if these ones were "nwa nnu - sweet ones or nwa ose - these ones that slap the hell out of your chin" 🤣

Fresh Pineapples and African velvet Tamarind

No, I didn't buy any. 🤣

Fresh Ugu - Pumpkin vegetable

Waterleaf

Pear

Although pears are in season now, they're quite expensive. In fact, every produce is.

Here we have Cassava

Dry Corn or Maize

Farming will soon start in earnest, so these farm seeds have been moved from store houses into the markets. The previous week I bought some for my mom, and she was thrilled. She confessed she'd been thinking of asking me to buy them, but forgot. Seeing them made her really happy.

Fresh tomatoes

After checking off all I had on the list, I headed home, happy for a task well accomplished.

Beautiful shots. The goods are very fresh. So do the sellers allows you to take pictures? In Lagos they'll take for phone if you even dared to intentionally take pictures.

Thank you. While some would gladly pose for you, some of them wouldn't allow, especially at this farm produce section. The first day I tried taking snapshots there, I was given the bashing of my life. Going forward, I try to be cautious. Thankfully, with fingerprint, I can take as much more as I want on go. The bad side is that some will be blurry. 😅

Well thanks for explaining. Honestly I've never seen anyone who willingly wants to pose lol. Maybe it's just that everyone is just angry in Lagos.

If only there was a voice note feature, I would have had a good laugh 😂 Well, sometimes I do tell them what I do, and that I am on official duty. They

It's like that here o. I recall the day I stopped at the bypass here in order to capture the street art, those street urchins warned me not to take any pictures. Na style I take snap the ones I was able to get.
