Suspected ritualists with gallons of human blood were arrested. 

I sat down on my couch yesterday evening to listen to some local news just before watching a movie, and behold, it was from one negativity to another. It's no longer news that the Nigerian economy has been a total mess in the last few years, and apparently, this ugly situation has increased the rate of crime in our country.

There have been several crimes happening in the country before the present-day economy, but I feel the increase nowadays is quite unusual, especially given the fact that very young youth are commonly found among these evil doers. What would a 23-year-old child be doing with human blood? I mean, it's too early to feel that your own world is the worst, and then the last option is to soil your hands on human blood. This was really disheartening news that I heard yesterday.

The news had it that Kaduna Police arrested a nine-man gang of suspected ritualists with one full jerry can of human blood at one cemetery, of which I cannot remember the exact name along the Kaduna expressway. The names of the suspects were mentioned, including their age, which ranges from 23 years to 37 years. A team of ritualists comprising both the old and the new members. Perhaps those younger ones are the new members they were about to initiate just before the arrest.

From the report, it was said the suspected ritualists were found in a Lexus vehicle, and inside the vehicle, there were two locally made pistols, one Beretta pistol, two jacket knives, two calabashes, and a jerrycan, all full of human blood, which the police recovered from them! They also confessed that the human blood under their custody was gotten after slaughtering an elderly man and having his body disposed of along with the neighboring local government. As if slaughtering the aged man wasn't enough, they removed every sensitive part of his body before disposing of him.

A few weeks ago, my sister returned home from school trembling, and upon inquiry, she told me that one of their students entered a public bus filled with ritualists unknowingly. Then, a few minutes into driving, the driver packed the car close to a bush, while some guy seated at the back of the bus used sharp knives to cut off a man's head inside the bus by 7 a.m. in the morning, not at night. The boy was panicking, seriously watching the evil guys slaughter a man's head in his presence. However, what surprised him was that the guys still drove him down to the school and asked him to get down and go to school unharmed!!!. According to my sister, the small boy feinted on the road, and some people carried him inside the school. After he got himself there, he narrated the whole tragic story to the whole school, and everyone was astonished.

The evils in our country are alarming, and to know that this thing now happens during the day is a big concern.

I think the issue of media and manipulation didn't reflect on this ritual news; however, there has been great manipulation in our media today, especially by the influence of politicians who would go extra length in covering the truth, causing the media to mislead people with information, but then the Internet and the masses have been a great help in giving us raw and unfiltered information over the years. I really hope that our media will return to that time when we can trust them again with information.
