THE GOOD OL' DAYS

At times, I can't help it but sit back and reminisce about the good old days where a man with a Mazda car is the biggest man in town. Now we have the likes of Benz, Supra, and many more that has dominated the market.

The days of Techno Y2, BlackBerry, 2go, soccer and asphalt on my Nokia x2, is on that can never fade away from my memory. These phones and phone apps were actually part of my life, but then, it faded into memories as the year goes by.

I have a list of apps that I really miss, and I actually wish these apps are around.

The first app is the 2go app.

2go is one of the oldest and very popular chatting app there was. It was the giant of it's time, as it dominated many countries. Nigeria, my country was one of them.

During those days, the major reason why we get a mobile phone is just so that we can create a 2go account and start chatting up the ladder.

In my street, you 2go rank was the major determinant of the amount of respect you receive from your peers. I remember when I took up my a job just to get my c2, so that I will download 2go and start chatting.
Anytime I set out to go to bed, mostly very late at night, I will leave my 2go app open, plug my phone and sleep. This technique also helps to increase my 2go rank.
The day I broke through to the level of Veteran, I almost threw a party. It was really difficult to get there.

I would compare 2go levels to that of mee6 in discord. Though these days, there aren't any joy that comes with leveling up in mee6.

Nokia phones

Another thing on my list is a gadget, Nokia C2. During those days, a guy with Nokia C1 to C3, and Nokia X2, was the hottest guy in town. One of the reasons for this is because of the 2go app.

Though it my sound cliché, but I miss sending things through Bluetooth. These were not just phones, but it brought people together.

Unlike in today's world where I could easily send files online, or download movies from telegram, during those times, you had come close together before you could send and receive a file. During the time of sharing, you get to gist with your friends, catch cruise and have fun.

There is always an option to download something, but then, you would not want to take that option. Why? Let's see the next heading.

Waptrick

The next in my list is not actually an app, or a gadget, but a website.
Remember waptrick, wapdam and the rest? These sites were the playstore of our time. Even, it was better than playstore. The major problem of this site is that; you may be downloading something for over 2 hours, only for a message with "downloading failed" when the file is 99% complete. Sometimes, the file may not even open.

I use to feel like smashing my phone on the wall, when I see this message. Lol.

Aside from this disadvantage, waptrick is a good website. You'll see literally everything there. Images, games, other applications, videos and many more.

UC BROWSER

It will interest you to know that I was not actually a fan of Google because of UC Browser. I use this browser mainly for Facebook. The version for Nokia X2 was really nice, but then, when I downloaded the Android version, I was not feeling its features no more, so, i ran to Google Chrome.

Thank you for reading.

🤣🤣🤣
I laughed out loud when I saw Waptrick!
Oh my goodness! How did I forget about that site and the wonders it did then? 😂 The guy in the gif is so how I feel when I try to download stuffs.

I like that Bluetooth concept you shared, now we can be at a distance and get whatever we want from another device. It's like more innovation in tech means more distances between humans 🥲

waptrick was the grandmasters during those days. I wonder why they couldnt keep up.

many thanks for stopping by

Waptrick and wapdam were my go-to for downloading any and everything. Those sites were seamless. There was almost nothing that you wouldn't find there. The sweetest part was that then, small 10mb could get us long browsing hours.

i really miss those days. Back then, 100mb will lead me for days, browsing and downloading, but now, 1gb will not even be enough for 30mins.
