Hive Hangout In Lagos At Last

As I don't have the voice to sing, let me just drop the lyrics and you all will use your own voice. Let's talk about what we came here for....

A day of each year, is always set out where few of us in the hive community do have an hangout @starstrings01 , @k-banti, @josediccus and myself. This is a time where we reflect on what we did wrong in the community/life and how to do better moving forward into the next year. We have gone to the beach (even though we left afterwards due to the ridiculousness in price), we have gone to restaurants and lounge and it was always a good time with these guys.

But what about others??

That's a question I asked myself each time after each hangouts?
What about those that we only talk to either via discord or in the comment section and if we get close enough, then we will move to WhatsApp. I want to see the beautiful @tenesha or have a physical arrangement on a controversial topic with @babymoyin or maybe meet the @fashtioluwa that's a coded whale but is always teasing everyone, or even meet my roommate from years back @obaro or the famous @nkemakonam89 amongst others.

It has always been my dream to gather members of the hive community and have a hangout/meet up. So last month while speaking with starstrings if we would have our yearly meetup this year, I then brought the suggestion of making it indoor this year because the cost of going to restaurants now is very pricey and it will be much crowded with people also celebrating the season (and we can't book the entire place😅😅). He asked if I wouldn't mind having strangers in my home. Immediately he said said this, I was very much interested in the next line of questions that followed. That's how we got to where we currently are and now, we are contemplating on if we should open it to none hivians and probably bring them onboard.

Let me tell you a bit about the hangout.
So as of right now, we are planning for just 10-12 people. Even though we have more people in the group we just want to budget for 10 people and buy some of the things we need for the event (I trust my country things will still go very high). Who knows after this post, more people might be interested and join the movement.

The hangout will feature...

• Games
  such as devil's basket (but instead of 18+ questions, we will be doing questions about life). This way we will have more things to talk about and the discussion will keep on going. We will have whot game, and probably COD (Call of duty) so if you are a COD gamer, fall in. There will be prizes for the winners of the COD and What games.

• Reflection
  This will majorly be where we reflect on the past years and you share it with the house. It is done so that others won't repeat your mistakes. We will also reflect on the positives and negatives part of the year be it on hive and outside hive. Prompts on how to move forward will be discussed also.

• Talk
  We will have a talk session by 2 people that are have an influence in some communities. Like for the @vibes community, we will be having @obaro speak on how to go about it.
  While @starstrings01 will discuss on blogging in general (the dos and don'ts) I will try to see if @josediccus will be available then he will talk on gaming within the hive community.
  And everyone else will share what works for them.

And the last on the list is

• Food.

My humble self and a friend will be incharge of this aspect. We released a poll to help us decide what to go with and most people went for the usual rice and chicken and just a few went for Semo with vegetable soup

So we plan on making both available but the soup will be limited to just 5 people.
The menu for the day will be

• Rice and chicken with coleslaw
• Semo with egusi and beefs

Each attendee will be entitled to 2 plates. One that they will eat at the venue and the other will be a takeaway.
Only soft drinks and bottled water will be available and for people that have said no to soda, we can get them an alternative like viju or something else. Snacks and biscuits will also be available to munch on while activities are going on.

I forgot to add that we will be doing a cover of a Christmas song and will be posting it in the vibes community. To know the song, join the group chat 😹 😹

VENUE and others

The venue for the hangout is around "Ipaja Arena" just before Gate.

• Date is on the 4th of January 2025.
• Time is 9am on the dot.
• Registration is 5HBD and #5000 for none hivians (those that are not in the hive community) and registration ends on the 31st of December 2024.
