The reality of human beings is that we are all a product of scientific discoveries. At one point in time, what we now know about ourselves was once alien to mankind. From ordinary humans who made tools out of stones and any raw objects we can find, our existence have become a lot more comfortable. The more we discover about ourselves and surroundings, the more life becomes a lot bearable for us on earth. Gone are those days when petty illness like fewer or cough is like a pandemic whenever it strikes. It is now something we deal with just by visiting the clinic.
Looking at how far we have gotten thanks to scientific discoveries is something worth being grateful for. I have never once neglected the significant role Science play in ensuring the continuity of the human race. However, there is something I'm more grateful for compared to the scientific discoveries we have made over the years.
As a human being, I'm the kind of person that allows my imagination go wild sometimes. I mean there are things I think of in relation to what is currently occuring in the world right now and I wonder what could have been. At some point, it is starting to feel like the more scientific discoveries we make, the more we endanger ourselves.
I'm a lover of movies, especially the ones with good plot. I was privileged to come across a series few weeks ago and I was shocked to see a sci-fi movie that talks about something that has always been a source of concern to me, whenever I hear of all kinds of scientific discoveries that doesn't seem humane to me.
The title of the movie is L.U.C.A. This movie talks about genetic combination of human cells to other life forms on earth e.g animals. In order to create a more superior being without defects and the result of this modification will be worshipped by humans who are inferior to the being, in terms of abilities. In the movie, while one part strive to ensure the creation of this creature, others fight to ensure such scientific work is never done.
Well, this superior being was eventually created in a lab secretly, despite the science ethics committee banning the project. The science committee suffered a fatal blow because the scientist behind this scientific abomination, went as far as killing anyone who was against the idea or anyone who they consider to be an hindrance to the project.
It was a sad movie, seeing lives of innocent people getting lost while fighting for a righteous cause. It makes me wonder what the world would have been like, if there weren't some kind restriction to some scientific research, it would have been chaotic. I mean just imagine seeing a human being with goat legs or with horns or a human being with wings or a dog that could talk. Things like this might sound fun to some people but to people who actually understand the need for balance in the ecosystem, would understand how chaotic it will be, if such creatures were actually created.
The world of science is limitless, which makes it possible for any wild idea that pops up in any scientist head to become reality. Looking at the rate at which most countries in the world still frown against some extreme body modifications, it is a source of comfort. I wouldn't have to wake up one morning and discover that my neighbour have suddenly gotten wings or horns, do you know how bizarre that would feel?
I'm a lover of scientific discoveries, if weren't for it, we might have faced similar fate like the dinosaurs. Despite the beauty of scientific discoveries, it is reassuring to know that there are boundaries involved when it comes to how far some scientists can go with their creativity.

You're right, the world of science is limitless ,though there are times limits sets in. But then thanks to research and unending efforts
Yeah.
