Greetings!
In this life, the word time is so important and this is because it's precious. Everything in life can be lost, yet be recovered but, there's one thing that if lost, it would or cannot be recovered and that thing is TIME.
So, if looking for anything precious more than gold, silver, or money, that thing is time and if wasted, it cannot be regained. I have in my lifetime seen people's time being wasted with pride, but when they now realize that they have wasted a good amount of their time, they stay humble and put in more effort to recover it. But in most cases, it's always impossible to do so.
Having talked extensively about time, I would like to discuss a little bit about time and time spending. I so much love today's topic and this is because it's one of those things that I cherished most in life.
If I could access myself so far, I would say that I'm a victim of procrastination and this has really affected my progress alot. But, ever since I realized that I procrastinated too much, I have been working to improve on myself. So, in this discussion, I would talk about my life of procrastination and the other life of maximizing my precious time.
Some time ago, someone called me to send my CV to him for employment. This person even told me the plug was sure as he was given a slot to present a person for that federal job position.
This was immediately after my NYSC, but instead of sending to him my CV immediately, I told him I would send it to him later in the day. This is because I have not done anything regarding my CV. In short, I didn't have a CV, something which I was supposed to have done even before the end of my NYSC but because of procrastination, I couldn't do it.
So, immediately the man hung up, I went to sit somewhere trying to draft my CV, but in the process, I stood up from where I was and promised myself to do it before evening. There's nothing I was doing after abandoning it again, but due to the cankerworm called procrastination, I abandoned what was urgent till another time of the day.
However, when it was evening, the man called again. It's when I saw his call again that I remembered that I had abandoned what was urgent for me to do. Immediately I saw his call, I rose up and tried to draft it on the spot, but his persistent call would not even allow me to do anything on my phone.
So, when the call was too much for me to bear with, I decided to answer the call and the first thing the man would say was that, “I have not seen your CV which I asked you to send to me. If you are not sending it now, don't bother to send it again.” Immediately he said this, he hung up and that's the end of the great opportunity that came knocking at my door.
Furthermore, what happened was so painful to me as I have to work to cater for myself and my family. The man knew I needed the job and that's why he contacted me, but due to my act of procrastination, I lost the golden opportunity and it's since then that I began to work on myself.
Since that particular day, I decided to work on myself and to avoid procrastination at all cost. This was my submission and working towards it has really helped me alot.
Just recently, a man called me to ask if I could supply building materials which I knew nothing about. When he asked this question, I didn't even wait till the next seconds to give him a reply, saying, YES, I can.
Although, I knew nothing about it but I believe I have people that are into it and going to them to assist me on the supply would help me out. If it were to be before, I would have said I would call you back, but that's then as a lot has changed about me. I went to them and they helped me to handle the contract but on a 70:30 agreement which still pays me.
In addition, I would say procrastination is a stealer of time and there's no time that's not enough. One thing is that, if not well managed it will become a waste. So, for us to make good things out of our limited time, we must be a good manager.
Even if the time is increased from 24 hours to 34 hours. Some would not even make good use of it as they would only be procrastinating. The 24 hours we are using is still enough to do great things. What I have so far realized is that, what you cannot do with 24 hours, you can do with 34 hours. So, let's maximize our time and make things happen.
This can only be done by avoiding procrastination. We should also take our rest even within that limited time that we have.
Our God is a God that knows how to manage time so much. He created the heavens and the earth and all within them for six days and rested on the same day. We also should cultivate the habit of resting after working, but this can be made possible if we avoid procrastination as this would enable us to manage our time well and have time to take a rest.
In conclusion, time is everything in life, time is gold, time is silver and time is money. We should always make sure we spend our time wisely as that is the only viable collective currency of the world.
