An Introvert’s Weekly Survival Guide, E4: Denim, Drinks, and One Last Beach Day

Hey there Hivers!

I know, I am a bit provocative… the sun, the beach, the dog It’s true, I’m still writing to you from the stunning beaches of Naxos, and it’s as perfect as it looks, but let me tell you... when you were all playing Weekend at Bernie’s, I was working my a*s off. Now, it is time for me to enjoy. The sun is still warm, the water is like a giant, heated pool, and the tourists? Long gone.

So, before October sneaks up on us with its gray skies and sweater weather, I say you do it like I do it. Head to the beach one last time. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this!

Why the Beach is Calling Your Name

Now, I know what you’re thinking—"Isn’t it too late for beach days?" Nope, it’s not. As I said, September usually means the last warm days of the year, cool breezes, and water that’s warmer than it was all summer. And you know what? You don’t have to swim. Just take a walk on a nearly deserted beach with the sun gently warming your skin. It’s like a vacation without the crowd or the insane prices. Whether you’re on a romantic getaway or enjoying some quality “me-time” this is your last chance to soak in the good weather before we all start dreaming about fireplaces and hot cocoa.

Check out the photos below to see what I’m talking about.

The Denim Edition: What to Wear

For this perfect beach day, let’s keep it simple and stylish with the denim edition. Denim never fails us, and it’s perfect for the transitional weather. Here’s what you should rock (like I do in the photos above):

  • Wide-Leg Jeans + White Tee: Keep it classic with wide-leg denim. They’re flattering, they’re comfortable, and they’re totally on point for AW24. Pair them with a white T-shirt for that effortlessly cool look.
  • Flannel Shirt/Cardigan: It might get chilly by the afternoon, so throw on a flannel shirt or a cozy cardigan to stay warm. Bonus: both look fab tied around your waist when the sun is out.
  • Denim Jackets: Layer it up with a denim jacket for the cooler evening strolls. You’ll look stylish and stay warm as you walk along the beach watching the sunset.

Want to complete the look? Think vintage-style sunglasses and canvas sneakers. You’ll look chic, beach-ready, and perfect for Instagram. Here are some ideas from ASOS:

What to Eat: Pasta with a Romantic Twist

Now, what’s a perfect day without the perfect meal? Since we’re keeping things light and romantic, let’s go Italian with Linguine with Mozzarella and Basil. It’s a dish that feels fancy, but let’s be real—it’s also easy enough for even the most culinary-challenged introverts.

What you’ll need:

  • Linguine pasta
  • Fresh mozzarella (torn into pieces)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic
  • A pinch of chili flakes (if you’re feeling spicy)

Instructions:

  1. Cook your linguine in salted water until al dente.
  2. In a pan, sauté garlic and cherry tomatoes in olive oil until softened.
  3. Toss the cooked pasta into the pan, add torn mozzarella, and top with fresh basil and chili flakes.
  4. Serve warm with a drizzle of olive oil and enjoy your Italian-inspired feast.

What to Drink: Italian Vibes in a Glass

Of course, we need a drink to match this dreamy meal. So, we’re keeping the Italian vibes going with a bottle of red wine. Something light and flavorful, perfect for pairing with your pasta. Here are a few recommendations:

  1. Di Majo Norante Sangiovese (€10-€15): A delicious Italian red with juicy berry flavors, perfect for a casual beachside dinner.
  2. Barbera d'Alba (€20): Fruity and smooth with a touch of spice, this one’s ideal for an evening with your feet in the sand.
  3. Chianti Classico (€30-€50): For those feeling a bit more luxurious, go for a Chianti. Bold, rich, and with enough depth to keep things interesting.

Pick up one of these bottles and enjoy it with your meal while watching the sunset. Of course, you can watch Netflix while you drink, I kind of like that equally with the sunset. Shame on me, I know, but read the title bro! **I-N-T-R-O-V-E-R-T **

Setting the Scene for Your Perfect Evening
Having said that, if the beach isn’t your scene today, or maybe you’re stuck at home—no worries! You can still create the perfect cozy vibe right in your living room.
Just sit on your couch with your juicy pasta and your red wine and watch….

LOST

The beach can really be a b-tch sometimes.

I agree with you, September is a great month to enjoy the beach. Few people around, warm weather but not too much and the water is perfect! ❤️
