Box for a wood-burning stove

Perhaps my readers remembers that I recently installed a wood-burning stove, and put it so that access to the furnace was from the street. To do this, I had to remove part of the wall in my frame house and put stones in the space between the racks in which the furnace door was located.

This solution allowed to get rid of garbage and smoke in the house, but created a small problem. The fact is that now it's still warm outside and I rarely heat the stove, so the stones cool down overnight and condensation appears on the stones from the inside of the house.

This is of course not a very big problem, yet. As soon as it gets cold outside, there will be more condensation. In addition, the stones have become a serious cold bridge.

To solve this problem, I made a kind of box from the outside of the house, which closes the oven at a time when it is not in use, thus preventing the freezing of stones.

First I made the box itself

Next I knocked down the door. I just sawed the boards to size and fastened them with an OSB trim.

Then I attached a mineral wool to the door. I attached it simply with the help of screws.

Maybe not perfect, but I liked it. Let's see how such a solution will show itself with the onset of cold weather.
