Super annoyed first thing yesterday morning when I saw the email from Columbia that my order was cancelled due to their system not accepting my payment. So after getting the boys to school I spent a half hour chatting with support and got the order to finally take. It's J's new ski jacket and pants which are over half off right now so I didn't want to miss out on getting them.
Then I headed out to work on the truck. There wasn't much left to get it back together the last bits to start it up and see if it was fixed.
Fluids in I just needed the battery.
I lugged the battery over then had to put the charger on it for a while. I went and started working on the tint removal in the sled while it charged. After a while I pulled it off and gave the truck a start.
MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!!!!!
The sound is still there and must be a valve guide or seal that went bad in the middle or front cylinder on the driver side.
I was nearly bawling I was so mad and frustrated. The sudden depression I felt was terrible and it took me a while to calm down. After a bit I threw my hands up and went to work on the car.
The ancient tint was pure shit and I couldn't see anything out the rear windows. It was NOT easy to get off though despite it being 30 years old. I used my blade and holder to scrape the shit off the windows.
The worst was the rear window as I had to be in the car to do it and the sun was beating down on our first real warm day of the year. I was sweating like mad but got a good amount of the window scraped.
After stepping out and cooling off for a while I got back in and kept at the scraping. My shoulders and arms were on fire from all the tensing and pressing and scraping.
I needed food so I went inside to cool off again and to get calories in me. Then around 1pm I was back out pulling the tint. It came off the passenger rear window WAY easier than any of the others.
I got most of the rear window tint removed then had to deal with the pile of trash left on the rear deck.
I scooped it out and into a bag then hauled over the air hose to blow the car out.
I brought out the alcohol spray bottle and paper towels and wiped down all the windows in the car. The alcohol took a lot of the shit glue off and left the windows pretty damned clear.
I had put the orange PET in and got the armors printing to build more stock.
What a difference now being able to see through the windows.
I'm actually looking forward to taking the boys to school this morning just so I can see the immense difference. Now I just need to figure out what is wrong with it at 60+ mph and the weird shake/vibration.
5 minutes at the board and I just couldn't get the third dart to drop in next to the other 2. Damn close for third visit.
The boys got home from school and J told me how they are going to be starting archery at school. He took his bow out for some practice in the yard and I we got a new target for him. The cardboard needs to be filled with flat sheet cardboard so the arrows won't go straight through.
Tromped down to the creek to check the pinch point and used a branch to dig out some of the debris that had caught. It makes a difference as the water level out of the tunnel dropped a bit with less impediment to the flow.
Our first 70F day of the year was nice and the clouds that flew past cooled it off for a while.
The pair of frames came off and I got a HSW panel started.
It was 5pm and with my head muddled from the bullshit I started ripping everything off the motor AGAIN. This time I'm setting the parts in the truck on the back seat so they are out of my way. Like the air cleaner intake tube, air intake, alternator, fan, housing, etc.
It didn't take me long to reverse everything I had done in the morning save drain the fluids.
All the pulleys removed, a/c parts off, valve covers loose, all electrical plugs pulled.
By 6:15 I had the motor so that I drain the fluids this morning, pull the few parts left, then I will dig my way down to the head and pull it. Thankfully I already got the full gasket set that has the valve guides, seals, and exhaust and head gaskets.
SO ANNOYED, FRUSTRATED, and DISGUSTED by this whole fucking thing. I have no plans of being a full time mechanic so I'd rather not be studying the cliff notes for Toyota ASE certification.
@stryeyz brought home car ramps from Harbor Freight and dinner from Bruchi's as I had not even thought about dinner. It was so nice we got to eat out on the porch for once.
The panel was finished so I swapped out the filament for PET and got armor printing.
The Kraken played and managed to get a goal to tie in the 2nd.
And even were in the lead at the end of the 2nd. I KNEW they would lose so I turned it off and went out to soak. When I came in I looked and YEP, they lost 4-3 in o/t. I just knew they would lose.
Half an hour and my shitty skin said enough. The print finished after I went to bed.
Today I will get to try out the windows in an hour when I take the boys to school, the printer is going already, I will hit North 40 for a Kryall hoodie they have on sale, tear the motor down the rest of the way and hopefully find out the problem in the head, probably should change the o2 sensors on the sled now that I have the ramps, then I pick J up from running , R has practice again, and I'll have dinner ready in time for them to go.

Is that an interference engine? That concern has been nagging at the back of my mind since your timing chain went.
Pretty sure it is. The chains weren't the problem so likely the valve since the plug is not destroyed from impact.
