There was the talk of snow happening yesterday but when I got up in the morning the doppler showed nothing nearby. Everywhere I looked seemed convinced there would be snow but I had serious doubts given how this "winter" has gone so far.
I got the boys to school, was home with the printer brrrring away when I looked outside to see the first tiny little flakes falling from the sky. The doppler was suddenly ablaze with color but it was on hyper speed and was racing east.
The first few flakes of the minimal snowening.
@stryeyz had picked up a couple new fire extinguishers as ours are pretty old and need a recert. I couldn't remember why the second one so it got mounted anyway. The main one is in the kitchen mounted to the side of the microwave stand within easy reach from the gas stove.
I mounted the second in the living room but it will be going up to her craft studio since she uses flames. It was just a single screw so it will come off in a moment.
10:45 it started and the flakes quickly grew in size and within minutes it was dumping snow. BUT it didn't last long.
An hour later the snow had moved past and we were left with a whole half inch that actually stuck. WHOOOOO... whoooo... woooooo.... At least the mountains got some more snow?
I've been having fun printing out whistles. These things are insanely loud for their size. I scaled the one up a lot but it ended up a bit too big and sounds a lot like a train whistle. I'll be playing with the sizing some more today. R has given a couple to his recess teachers and I'm giving J some to take for his if they want.
Early afternoon I headed the couple miles to the meeting spot for our Azure drop. This is the lake that forms every fall and lasts until spring. Normally it is frozen over but now it is over a foot and a half deep in the middle. Weird how the soil is impermeable here but 3 miles north our soil only drains.
The slew of whistles I got printed. The 3 varying sized ones are all the same design just thinner and each has a distinct tone thanks to the thickness difference. They are two tone while the ones below them are single tone.
If anything we will have them mounted to everything and everywhere.
Slowly, ever so slowly the form is refining. First one out then the next two in. Use the guide.
Super cool that one of our paragliding club members, actually the one who started the club, has a big article about him in the recent USHPA magazine.
Conrad IS a NW flying legend and one of a group of our "elders" we have that are well over 30 years of flight experience EACH, some well over 40 years. It really is cool to share the sky with people who have such experience and I'm looking forward to being in the air near him again this year.
I had dinner ready early since R had his wrestling signups at 6pm. We went up to the high school which the parking lot was PACKED due to a game going on. We got him signed up and after the meeting we bolted for home.
Today is kinda up in the air as of now. I have the printer going already, it's looking to be a clearer day but shitty winds up north here, I'm trying to dredge up motivation to be productive given the litany of tasks I still have on my list, but hey! they Hive price is trending very nicely!
