Rice cultivation is very important for food security since it has been an ever-present food in the global food security with the size of cultivation increasing as the years go by but this cultivation has been affected by various conditions like pests, diseases, and unstable global climate conditions. To fix this different ideas and techniques have been developed to maintain optimal conditions for this crop to thrive. We've managed to control the problem of pests and diseases to some extent but changing climatic conditions have been difficult to control we can't control the amount of rain that should or should not fall and some of our activities have even made this more difficult than it used to be.
The roles that consistent rainfall plays in agriculture.
Consistent rainfall plays a hugely important role in agriculture around the globe roles like
- Preventing soil dryness the longer the incoming radiation keeps coming the hotter the earth gets and then the soil inevitably gets dry but rainfall is an amazing cycle that keeps the ground wet and alive.
- It regulates the soil temperature there is a consistent supply of radiation from the sun to the earth this radiation is important to life to some extent it can also be harmful if its quantity is high.
It also increases nutrient availability and intake by increasing the dissolution of nutrients in the soil.
The challenges that come with inconsistent rainfall
The ground mostly becomes dry and this affects the plants in so many ways the nutrients won't dissolve into the soil, and the plants begin to dry and wither away.
But to prevent this we mulch the seedlings or we can also irrigate the farm now mulching can only work for a few weeks after which we have to take it off since it eventually becomes a load on the seedlings and Irrigation can be done a little longer but that still depends on if there are available water source and irrigation tools.
Consistent rainfall is the main source of water supply and nutrient intake which makes it the best option to keep my seedlings alive and in optimal conditions as far as am concerned.
