Creating a canopy of fluted pumpkins to prevent it from getting burnt

Yesterday evening while checking on my garden I had noticed that the growing fluted pumpkin leaves and stems were getting burnt in several different location.

Very much noticeable burnt and dried off leaves and stems.

I was very fortunate that everything didn't get burnt before I noticed this. Alot of things must have happened to cause this and one of such is the this canopy forming veggies were left to grow round the ground.

Once a certain crop is a canopy forming one like pumpkins, upon germination and growth it is expected that we create something like a bridge where our veggies can climb to form a canopy. Just like yams tubers fluted pumpkins are also canopy forming veggies.

What we mean by this is that they love to grow above the ground and if it's possible to create something they can grow up along they will form something like a canopy above the ground.
What I am meant to do here next is to gather some sticks as if I want to build a shade, direct the veggies along it and have it grow above the ground to form a vegetable canopy.
This way all the leaves are above the ground.

Although we have often grown fluted pumpkins as a cover crops across the ground before, this is often done in the farm where the conditions are more favorable. The soil is not harsh in its temperature and other factored.

But for my fluted pumpkins here, it's is possible that the fence wall beside it is heating it up. The stones beneath the sack where I had planted them could be heating the leaves lying on the ground.

An emergency solution to rescue the remaining fluted pumpkins is what I have some here.
I got pieces from my sewing and joined them together to form a long rope, this was then tied to the the stem of the veggies to direct it's growths above the ground. Pending when I can get the kids to get me wood that will be used to create the bridge and ladder where this can all climb above the ground to form a canopy.

From all indications it is very much visible here that I was able to get quality fluted pumpkins seeds which have produced really well. The dark green of the large leaves showing healthy growth.
If I am able to take care of this with the perfect canopy settings and all, it's will be only a matter of a month of two before I get adequate supply of my fluted pumpkins veggies.
