Welcome back to another edition of the Hive head to head fantasy Premier League.
Gameweek 28 was a tough one for a lot of managers, particularly those who had banked on Dom Solanke to get the business done against 2 relegation threatened teams. His penalty miss essentially removed the advantage he should have received from the double game week while the operators of the Hubble Space Telescope are said to be confident of locating the ball he blazed over the bar as it leaves our Solar System later this week.
Onto game week 29 and it's a difficult one to write head to head previews for given how few players will actually be involved from the current squads. In Division 1, teams have anywhere from 2 to 9 players who could feature in GW28 and of course that means that we could well see a significant number of managers utilising their free hit in order to get 11 players on the pitch.
However, not every side still has that as an option with 6 of the 20 teams in Division 1 having already used that chip. It does mean that in a couple of fixtures this weekend, the result is pretty much a foregone conclusion. Included in each of the match previews this weekend, is a list of which chips both sides still have available to them.
Where both teams do have the free hit available, it becomes a case of selecting a squad from fairly limited and largely underused resources. Burnley, Brentford, Forest and Fulham are not teams where FPL managers usually look for their next big points differential.
While many of the top clubs in the country take a break for the Premier League, it doesn't mean to say that there aren't some massive fixtures this weekend.
Burnley desperately need to turnaround their wretched home form if they are to escape relegation and they host a Brentford side who are far from safe themselves. The Bees performances have probably been better than their run of results suggests but that counts for very little in their current circumstances, they need a win and they need it now.
Luton squandered a chance to draw level with Forest when they let slip a 3 goal lead at Bournemouth on Wednesday. How the Luton players react to that defeat could well define the remainder of their season. Meanwhile Forest had looked a better side under new management but have since lost 3 in a row themselves as they wait the possibility of a points deduction that would give even greater importance to the outcome of this fixture.
Elsewhere, Spurs players will likely be popular picks as they travel to Fulham. The West London Team have been very difficult to predict this season and with 35 points they are all but safe. The remainder of their year could be determined by whether they take their foot off the gas now that their Premier League safety is all but assured. For the visitors, it is of course all to play for as they hunt down a Champions League finish.
The final match of GW29 will take place on Sunday as West Ham play Villa. Both teams enjoyed success in midweek but how much those exploits will have impacted their preparations for this game remains to be seen. Alongside Spurs, these are the 2 clubs that FPL players already have assets from but the fact that they play each other perhaps makes them less valuable in this limited game week.

GW29 Previews
Division 1
@thoth442 v @b0s
Legion FC's relegation concerns grew as they dropped another place down to 17th having delivered just 38 points in GW28. Thoth442FC haven't been on a great run themselves of late so this fixture provides an opportunity to make a late push back up into the top quarter of the league.
Both current squads have 4 players available for GW29 with 3 differentials a piece.
Both sides have the free hit available if they wish to use it while Legion FC are sitting on all their chips which may be a big advantage in their fight to stay up.

It now seems more a question of when not if Shamzy FC will win the Division 1 head to head league given that they were able to extend their lead at the top to 15 points by delivering a 72 point week in GW29, the highest in the division. Yagman FC also won to move themselves back into the top half and while they didn't match their opponents score last week, they have outscored them in the 2 fixtures prior to that.
Both teams have Ollie Watkins meaning that their available players as things stand are 4 v 5.
Both these sides went early on their WC2 which could impact them later on in the season but equally they've retained their Free Hit as an option.

The Amirians moved off the bottom of the league for the first time in a long time with their win in GW28. Another victory in this fixture against Suffragette City who themselves fell back into the relegation zone would mean that the come back is on.
This is one fixture that perhaps lends itself to further analysis as neither side has their free hit available to use! Suffragette City do still have a Wildcard up their sleeve and so could all but guarantee themselves a win in this head to head if they choose.
They also have twice as many available players as the Amirians (both teams have Areola in goal), although the Amirians differentials are 2 players who are capable of putting up big points on their own, as we saw with Son in GW28, so this one is not perhaps the forgone conclusion that it might appear.

It's been a while since either of these teams got a win in the head to head league. For Content Creators that run looks likely to end their participation in the top flight and for Augment they'll be desperate to get a victory to ensure they stay just above the relegation fight as opposed to well and truly in it.
However, that might be easier said than done with the Content Creators still sitting on their free hit. Given that they only have 2 available players for GW29 then surely they are going to play it. That leaves Augment either having to take the loss or they'll need to chance their 2nd wildcard.

BlockchainFPL made it 4 wins in a row with victory in GW28 and gave themselves a 5 point cushion over the relegation spots in the process. Inzanagi FC broke a 4 match losing streak to also move out of the bottom 5. A win for either team would go a long way to ensuring their safety come the end of the season.
BlockchainFPL are one of the few teams across the Hive FPL who should be able to field a starting XI this week without either using a chip or taking a massive points hit with 9 players available. That being said, Inzanagi FC are still sitting on their free hit unlike their opponents today.
In most cases, you'd assume that the side playing the chip will win but it'll be interesting to see if Inzanagi FC can come up with a better XI from the 8 teams available. The one thing counting against Blockchain FPL is the potential unavailability of a couple of their full-backs with Reguilon nursing an injury and Alex Moreno not part of the Villa side for their last game either.

With other teams around them in the relegation battle playing each other in GW29, this feels like a must win match for I Feel Qatari when you consider that defeat could leave them as much as 7 points from safety. However, it'll be a tough ask against a Likodra FC team who have moved up to 8th with 3 straight wins, a period in which they've consistently outscored today's opponents.
Both sides have their free hits available to them so we wait to see who can pick the better XI for this stunted game week.

Espada Numero Uno are still not 100% safe but a win and other results going their way would put them in a comfortable position. In fact, rather than worrying about what's going on below them, they could start to focus on catching the teams in midtable above them like Hiveheadz who have ended any lingering concerns they may have had about the drop with 3 wins in a row.
Despite the graphic above, Hiveheadz do actually have a couple of players who will be involved this weekend they just aren't differentials. Both sides have their free hit available and will surely use them.

The wheels have well and truly come off for Lazz who earlier in the year looked like they might make a push for the title but now find themselves dropping down the league like a stone. Nonz FC are one of the sides that have already passed them and it looks like they'll have the opportunity to move even further clear.
Why am I so confident of a Nonz FC win? Well because both sides have used their free hits already. In fact, both sides have gobbled down all their chips other than the bench boost, proving once and for all that once you pop, you can't stop!
Both sides also have Areola and Watkins in their team but the extra players that Nonz FC possess in midfield, all of who are plenty capable of adding a goal involvement this weekend, should see them over the line.

Another fixture that sees sides who are adjacent to one another in the league go head to head. The winner of this match will almost certainly move into the top 5 and it looks likely to come down to who uses their free hit effectively.
FCMcKane have been particularly frugal with their chip use to date having only used their 1st wildcard way back in GW5 while Hungry Lions still have everything bar their triple captain chip at their disposal.

It's looks like Creekside FC have given up in recent weeks, allowing Shamzy FC to cruise to the title. The real battle now becomes for the runner-up spot with Whyte FC the form team in that particular contest.
Both sides have their free hits available so you'd guess that this one will initially be decided by whether Creekside re-engage with their team. Whyte FC do have to consider the fact that they've already played their 2nd wildcard so a free hit here would limit their options for making wholesale changes for the remainder of the season.
