Our trip to Spain is slowly coming to an end. From L'Escala our way led us to Castelló d'Empúries. There we discovered the beautiful campsite Laguna, which is located directly at the sea and offers a fantastic, large beach. The pleasant weather conditions prompted us to end our trip here in a relaxed way.
Unsere Reise nach Spanien neigt sich langsam dem Ende zu. Von L'Escala führte uns unser Weg nach Castelló d'Empúries. Dort entdeckten wir den schönen Campingplatz Laguna, der direkt am Meer liegt und einen tollen, großen Strand bietet. Die angenehmen Wetterbedingungen veranlassten uns, unsere Reise hier entspannt ausklingen zu lassen.
The campsite is located in the middle of a nature reserve. A canal separates the town of Platja d'Empuriabrava. Access to the site with a vehicle is allowed only for campers. What we found particularly great: After the season, the area must be completely cleared so that nature can recover. When we arrived, a special surprise awaited us: preparations were underway for a Bavarian "Oktoberfest" with traditional music, pretzels and white sausages. A little piece of Bavaria in Spain!
Der Campingplatz befindet sich inmitten eines Naturschutzgebietes. Ein Kanal trennt die Stadt Platja d'Empuriabrava. Der Zugang zum Gelände mit einem Fahrzeug ist nur für Camper erlaubt. Was wir besonders toll fanden: Nach der Saison muss das Gebiet komplett geräumt werden, damit sich die Natur erholen kann. Als wir ankamen, erwartete uns eine besondere Überraschung: Die Vorbereitungen für ein bayerisches "Oktoberfest" mit traditioneller Musik, Brezeln und Weißwürsten waren im Gange. Ein kleines Stück Bayern in Spanien!
The city can be reached in several ways. Either you walk about 7 km, or you drive the same distance by car or bicycle, or, if you like it more adventurous, you cross the canal when the water is low enough at low tide. The crossing is very narrow. It can get a little wet for the unwary!
Die Stadt kann auf verschiedene Arten erreicht werden. Entweder man geht etwa 7 km zu Fuß, oder man fährt die gleiche Strecke mit dem Auto oder Fahrrad, oder, wenn man es abenteuerlicher mag, überquert man den Kanal, wenn das Wasser bei Ebbe niedrig genug ist. Die Überquerung ist sehr schmal. Für Unachtsame kann es ein wenig nass werden!
A nice place to explore the surroundings by bike. Rental bikes are available at the reception. The food at the campsite was not quite to our taste, so we enjoyed the delicious Mediterranean cuisine in town. Castelló d'Empúries proved to be an ideal place for relaxing walks.
Ein schöner Ort, um die Umgebung mit dem Fahrrad zu erkunden. Leihfahrräder sind an der Rezeption erhältlich. Das Essen auf dem Campingplatz war nicht ganz nach unserem Geschmack, deshalb haben wir die leckere mediterrane Küche in der Stadt genossen. Castelló d'Empúries erwies sich als idealer Ort für entspannende Spaziergänge.

It is good that where we go for outing, the vehicle should be available on rent like you told that rental bike was available at the reception. It is also that sometimes we do not get good food at the place of outing and we have to go to the city to eat. But it was a memorable moment for us. Or really looking at these beautiful photos of yours, Castello d'Empuris is the perfect place for a relaxing walk.
Thank you very much for your nice words! The flexibility in the excursions is definitely a plus. In my experience, the food in a cozy restaurant is usually better than in a campsite. Thank you very much. The place is known for its beautiful sunsets. I was too busy watching the spectacle (picture 2) and didn't think of the smartphone for a photo until a bit later. The second to last picture, if I read the Spanish correctly, is a sundial.
