#EPL-ScoreChallenge - Gameweek 1

This week I will be reviewing the Manchester United v Leeds United game, the game will be played on Saturday 14th September at 12:30 BST @ Old Trafford.

The battle of the Old Foes

For all the naturals, we all can agree that Leeds United had an amazing season and they were very entertaining, as they were promoted and finished season 2020/21 in 9th position. Leeds played some impressive football, end to end and high-pressing football. General in the past the 2nd year in the Premier League is normally a challenge. Leeds United needs to prove that they are here to stay in England's top flight.

In contrast, Manchester United will be desperately to be reinstated as the top dog in England. This will be the 3rd full season for Ole to be manager and in my opinion he will need to deliver some silverware as runners up in UEFA Europa League isn't good enough. As their status of the best team in Manchester is starting to fade away also. Manchester United have one significant purchase in the current transfer market; Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of €85.00m. Defender Raphael Varane is set to also sign for United as he still needs to pass a medical and finalise personal terms.

This is the first time since 1970-71 this old rivals meet on the opening day of the season, Leeds won that game 1-0 at Old Trafford. Leeds have not won at Manchester since 1981, 16 visits with no victory.

Last time Manchester United played Leeds at Old Trafford was last season where the Red devils hammered Leeds 6-2. Leeds were to open in defense and Fernandes ran the midfield. Goals by D.James, v.Lindelof and a brace by S.McTominay and B.Fernandes. Highlight below

This opening day showdown at Old Trafford will be different, Leeds will be a tough nut to crack. Would Leeds manager, Bielsa set up a defensive formation so the humbling of last season wouldn't be repeated or are we going to see an attacking formation, all guns blazing, going toe to toe with the Red Devils? As a neutral I would love the latter, goals galore and end to end football.
