[ENG-SPN] A Templar hermitage / Una ermita templaria

For centuries, this solar section of Old Castile belonged to a land, that of Soria, which also, during a good part of its history, was notably influenced by a presence, the Muslim one, to the point of constituting that so-called border of the Duero that separated the two Spains and in which notable events took place that constituted the precedent to another of the most surprising and fascinating historical episodes of Christianity: the Crusades.

Altered in the 20th century by the creation of a reservoir, that of Linares, whose peaceful waters separate a town of unalterable medieval essence and named Maderuelo, from those plains that today belong to another no less fascinating land, such as that of Segovia, in it is located, humble in its external appearance, but magnificent, nevertheless, in its interior decoration, one of the most venerable and enigmatic 'Sistine chapels' of Spanish Romanesque painting, its belonging being, in addition, attributed to a mysterious order of warrior-monks, the Knights Templar, who, inside, venerated one more of the innumerable fragments of the Holy Cross: the hermitage of the True Cross.

Durante siglos, este apartado solar de la Vieja Castilla, perteneció a una tierra, la de Soria, que también, durante buena parte de su historia se vio notablemente influencia por una presencia, la musulmana, hasta el punto de constituir esa bien llamada frontera del Duero que separaba las dos Españas y en la que se desarrollaron hechos notables que constituyeron el precedente a otro de los episodios históricos más sorprendentes y fascinantes de la Cristiandad: las Cruzadas.

Alterada en el siglo XX por la creación de un embalse, el de Linares, cuyas pacíficas aguas separan a un pueblo de inalterable esencia medieval y de nombre Maderuelo, de esos llanos que hoy pertenecen a otra tierra no menos fascinante, como es la de Segovia, en ella se localiza, humilde en su aspecto exterior, pero magnífica, no obstante, en su decoración interior, una de las más venerables y enigmáticas ‘capillas sixtinas’ de la pintura románica española, estando su pertenencia atribuida, además, a una misteriosa orden de monjes-guerreros, los caballeros templarios, quienes, en su interior, veneraban uno más de los innumerables fragmentos de la Santa Cruz: la ermita de la Vera Cruz.
