[ENG-SPN] Details of Romanesque Spain / Detalles de la España Románica

Since ancestral times and based on the great devotion to the figure of the Virgin Mary, Spain has always been considered an eminently Marian country and especially blessed by her, although her cult, actually late, was gradually replacing the primordial imagery of the so-called Black Virgins, whose worship was generally located in natural sanctuaries and, above all, inside caverns: there, precisely, where prehistoric man began to sense the unknowable presence of Divinity. But, in addition to this cult, which began to acquire great relevance from the 12th century, Spain is also a nation very rich in sacred architectural art, such as Romanesque Art, without a doubt.

Therefore, within its picturesque richness, those who are passionate about Art and Architecture, of the period, have, in this country of Sanchos and Quixotes -as a certain intellectual stated long ago- a whole universe to discover, with impressive treasures, the mere sight of which will never leave you indifferent and where, furthermore, based on your constitution and also the enormous added archetypal load, you will find, as a reward for your perseverance and fascination, a cultural richness that is difficult to surpass.

Desde tiempos ancestrales y en base a la gran devoción por la figura de la Virgen María, siempre se ha considerado a España un país eminentemente Mariano y especialmente bendecido por ésta, aunque su culto, en realidad, tardío, fuera sustituyendo, progresivamente, a la imaginería primordial de las denominadas Vírgenes Negras, cuyo culto, por lo general, se localizaba en santuarios naturales y, sobre todo, en el interior de las cavernas: allí, precisamente, donde el hombre prehistórico comenzaba a presentir la incognoscible presencia de la Divinidad. Pero, además de este culto, que comenzó a adquirir una gran relevancia a partir del siglo XII, España, es, además, una nación muy rica en un arte arquitectónico sagrado, como es, sin duda alguna, el Arte Románico.

Por lo tanto, dentro de su pintoresca riqueza, el apasionado por el Arte y por la Arquitectura, de época, tiene, en este país de Sanchos y Quijotes -como afirmó hace mucho tiempo, cierto intelectual- todo un universo por descubrir, con impresionantes tesoros, cuya mera visión, no le dejará nunca indiferente y donde, además, en base a su constitución y también, a la enorme carga arquetípica añadida, encontrará, como premio a su constancia y fascinación, una riqueza cultural, difícil de superar.
