Who is Willemien
My name is Willemien, aka Wikaatje on social media. I currently live in the Netherlands in a scenic town called Haarlem near Amsterdam.
I share my house with my two daughter's and two cats.
In my daily life i work at school as a teacher Art and Design and Art History. Besides that i also teach Digital Pattern Design at a fashion academy in Amsterdam. And, if not enough i work as a freelance photographer for museum, culture and events. So, spare time is rare. Hobbies.. yes, i pretend i have but mostly i end up doing the laundry or clearing the dishwasher.
Photography
My love for photography started when i was young, but it became serious when mobile photography became "a thing" and communities as Instagram started. @wikaatje Instagram
After becoming a serious mobile photographer, i needed more serious gear. My first camera was the Panasonic Lumix, DMC-GH3. Light, lines, macro, portrait, i tried to skill myself in everything.
Then i won a Olympus photo contest, actually with a mobile shot! New gear came my way, a body and two lenses. The good thing was that Panasonic and Olympus lenses were compatibel and i could use all my lenses on both bodies.
At the same time i was contacted by Huawei to become a mobile photographer ambassador for them. They had noticed my mobile photography talent. Soon i received a crazy mobile phone and started posting, both payed for or free. I must say, excellent shooting with Huawei. When Google was banned from Huawei i moved to Samsung Galaxy S22+, basically comparable and great too. My favourite app for editing my mobile shots is Snapseed. I love lines and minimal.
At this moment i use a Canon R8, full frame. The body is ultra lightweight, something i prefer. Favorite lens is the 35mm f/1.8. From macro shots to city walks, everything is possible.
I'm doing a lot of shooting in museums. Light conditions are not always great, this lens is perfect for these kind of conditions.
What i hope for
I have been scrolling here on Ecency for a while. I see a lot of great Photography that i like to see. I hope to find a nice, warm and creative community. I would love to tell you about my shootings, trips, and inspire you. Besides that i like to share some of my work and get feedback. Also the contests look great and do trigger me to participate.

Warm welcome to the Hive community @wikaatje I love those photos. I can never get tired of photos taken of buildings and scenery in Netherland. It is like the country is always ready to be clicked :) I remember my wife visiting Amsterdam and going crazy taking photos, something that she is rarely interested to do. So I joke with her that Amsterdam is her muse :D
