Hive Music Festival/Semana #27 / Ronda #3 (Creep/Radiohead)

Saludos a todos, con mucho entusiasmo vengo a compartir mi participación en la tercera ronda del hive music festival en su semana 27.
Primero porque esta ha sido mi primera participación en este concurso de Hive y segundo porque a pesar de que tenía una idea de hacer algo simple pues los planes cambiaron.

Mi idea inicial era hacer un acústico de “Creep” de la agrupación Radiohead. Pero como fui practicando con la guitarra mientras escuchaba el tema original, no lo pude evitar, el tema me pedía que le hiciera justicia, y ya que en mi home studio tengo las posibilidades pues me decidí a hacer el cover con todos los hierros.

Empecé con la batería que gracias a mi controlador MIDI puedo tocarla fácilmente golpeando los pads.
Luego agregue el bajo y como dato curioso debo aclarar que no tengo bajo en casa, solo tengo una guitarra que me prestó un amigo, pero lo que hice fue grabar el bajo con las cuerdas de la guitarra, y en Pro Tools le agregue un octavador para bajar el registro de las cuerdas y emular el sonido grave de un bajo. Además de eso aplique un compresor óptico para igualar la sonoridad y luego un emulador de amplificador del estilo AMpeg SVT Classic. Con esto obtuve el sonido del “Bajo” que pueden apreciar en el video.

Luego agregó la guitarra clean con sus arpegios utilizando un emulador de amplificador tipo fender twin reverb, todo un clásico.

En las guitarras distorsionadas si que le puse un montón de ganancia utilizando emulaciones de amplificador 6505 de Bogren llamado “Amp knob”, un plugin que suena muy bien en las guitarras pesadas.

Para la toma más importante sólo canté la voz principal mientras me ocupaba únicamente de la guitarra distorsionada en los coros, así me concentré más fácilmente en la letra y la melodía de la voz..

Luego agregue una tercera guitarra que hace unas octavas debo decir que esos arreglos los hice sin saber bien como es el arreglo original de la guitarra en la parte más intensa hice lo que me sonó mejor y me gusto bastante para no ser guitarrista.

En la mezcla me deje llevar por la intensidad y agregue mucha saturación y compresión en varios tracks aquí me deje de aspectos técnicos y me fuy por las emociones que provoca la música y estoy muy contento con el resultado.

Espero que sea de su agrado este tema y espero haberle hecho justicia a uno e los temas más icónicos y emocionales de los 90s

Greetings everyone, with much enthusiasm I come to share my participation in the third round of the hive music festival in its 27th week.
First because this has been my first participation in this Hive contest and second because although I had an idea of doing something simple, the plans changed.

My initial idea was to do an acoustic version of "Creep" by Radiohead. But as I was practicing with the guitar while listening to the original song, I couldn't help it, the song asked me to do it justice, and since I have the possibilities in my home studio, I decided to do the cover with all the irons in the fire.

I started with the drums that thanks to my MIDI controller I can easily play it by hitting the pads.
Then I added the bass and as a curious fact I must clarify that I don't have a bass at home, I only have a guitar that a friend lent me, but what I did was to record the bass with the guitar strings, and in Pro Tools I added an octaver to lower the register of the strings and emulate the bass sound of a bass. In addition to that I applied an optical compressor to equalize the sonority and then an Ampeg SVT Classic style amp emulator. With this I got the "Bass" sound that you can see in the video.

Then I added the clean guitar with its arpeggios using a fender twin reverb amp emulator, a classic.

On the distorted guitars I did put a lot of gain using Bogren's 6505 amp emulation called "Amp knob", a plugin that sounds great on heavy guitars.

For the most important take I only sang the lead vocal while dealing only with the distorted guitar on the chorus so I could more easily concentrate on the lyrics and melody of the vocal.

Then I added a third guitar that makes some octaves, I must say that I did those arrangements without knowing well how the original guitar arrangement is, in the most intense part I did what sounded better and I liked it a lot for not being a guitarist.

In the mix I let myself be carried away by the intensity and added a lot of saturation and compression in several tracks here I left the technical aspects and I went for the emotions that the music provokes and I am very happy with the result.

I hope you like this track and I hope I have done justice to one of the most iconic and emotional tracks of the 90s.
