Lotus Garden Newsletter for Homesteaders. 16th June 2021

My rooster has been trying to wrap me around his cute little talon recently, so I think that is why this thumbnail appealed to me this week. He's a bit more regal looking than my floppy combed little man, but cute all the same. @riverflows designed a bunch of images for me to use in the weekly newsletter and I think it's the first time I've used this one of the rooster. When I first saw them all, there were some that I thought I'd never use, but she obviously knew better and I think nearly every one has been appropriate at one point.

Some structural changes have been happening in the @naturalmedicine community of late, but the biggest take away from that is that nothing has essentially changed about the community itself and it's shown just how the people make up the community when they are passionate about it. People helping people and sharing knowledge...

Things happening in the community.

There's a fascinating topic up for discussion for this week's @ecotrain question of the week. What are your predictions for 20 and 200 years? I'm not very good at making predictions myself, but I am often fascinated by them. I hope to see you there.

Some highlights of the week

I’m obviously in a sentimental mood this week so I'm getting all gooey over @thebigsweed's garden update which he introduces as a gift born from love. I'm rather envious that they have found a passion together in gardening, so that they can hobbitize in one another's company. Do ask him about hobbitizing, I'm glad I did.

I'm pretty sure I featured one of @amy-goodrich's posts last week, but this one on growing and using loofah sponges was too good to miss as well. It appeals to both the gardener and the crafter in me.

I often say that balance is everything and as much as you might love plants and nature, there are times when you need to make a hard decision. Recently @bozz had to do just that when the beautiful, big maple tree in the garden became a hazard.

As curry lovers in this household, I have to admire seeing a curry made from scratch. @shielashraf takes us through making a vegetable curry step by step like a professional. It puts me to shame with my dump everything in a pan approach.

Great curation. Love the photo of Mr and Mrs @thebigsweed and love the word 'hobbitising', which I've encountered before reading his posts! That curry looks delish and I adored the loofah post by @amygoodrich too. I'm with you on the happiness about the community and people - hierarchies, structures, ranking, upvotes and so on are definitely secondary to the awesome things about this community @minismallholding.

There have been lots of reminders recently that the most important things in life are the people around you. Sometimes we need those reminders.

Good morning @minismallholdings, I hope everything is well with you. "people helping people", it's just too bad that more folks don't feel that way, if they did, this world we live in wouldn't be in such a mess. There seems to be a real lack of community spirit and most people put themselves first no matter the cost to others.
That is what I find to be so refreshing with many of the different communities here on #hive, people sharing common interests and not always centered around I, but rather us.
Thanks for including my post in the Natural Medicine News Letter for Homesteaders, it is always an honor to be featured in such a wonderful community.
God bless.
