Hello friends and food lovers! I hope you're all doing well today. 😁

What's your favorite dish? Mine is definitely sushi and maki. 🍣

I love the combination of rice with fresh fish, avocado, and cream cheese (French-style sushi, I grant you). I love eating it in Japanese restaurants. But I also like making it at home, even if it's always a bit time-consuming. đŸ€Ł

A few months ago, I shared my homemade sushi recipe and the entire preparation process. But today, I want to share with you another sushi recipe: sushi balls.

Actually, the longest part of making sushi is preparing the rice and assembling it. So, I decided to find an alternative for those days when I really want to eat sushi but don't have much time. 😁

Here's the recipe for about twenty sushi balls 👇

Ingredients

1 - sushis balls.jpg

  • 200g fresh salmon;
  • 250g rice (regular rice or sushi rice);
  • 2 avocados;
  • 4 nori seaweeds;
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese;
  • Rice vinegar;
  • Sugar;
  • Water;
  • Wasabi, soy sauce, sesame seeds (optional).

Preparation steps

I started by cooking 250g of regular rice.

Normally, to make good sushi, you need to take sushi rice and wash it several times, then wait about twenty minutes before cooking it in an appropriate amount of water. After cooking, you need to wait patiently for the rice to cool... In short, this step takes more than an hour. 😅

And this time, I wanted to try a quick recipe!

So, I simply put my rice on to cook. The time indicated on the package was 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, I got down to cutting the food 👇

First, the salmon. I removed the skin and cut it into small cubes:

5-sushis balls.jpg

Regarding fresh salmon, you have to be careful when eating it raw, like in sushi. Some fish contain parasites and cannot be eaten raw.

To be sure you can safely eat your raw salmon, it must either be written "sashimi quality" or "can be eaten raw" on the package, or the fishmonger must confirm this. Alternatively, you can buy fresh salmon, freeze it, and eat it a few days later. Freezing the fish will eliminate the parasites.

In short, I chose to freeze the salmon, so I had to thaw it a few hours before making the sushi.

Then, I cut the avocados into small cubes:

7-sushis balls.jpg

And the nori seaweed sheets into strips:

9-sushis balls.jpg
10-sushis balls.jpg

After the rice had cooked for 20 minutes, I drained it. Then, I rinsed it with cold water to cool it down faster.

11-sushis balls.jpg
12-sushis balls.jpg

Next, I prepared the vinaigrette that will season the rice. To do this, you'll need:

13-sushis balls.jpg

  • 5 teaspoons of rice vinegar;
  • 1 teaspoon of salt;
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar.

14-sushis balls.jpg
15-sushis balls.jpg
16-sushis balls.jpg

Then, mix until the sugar and salt dissolve.

The mixture depends on the brand of rice vinegar you choose. Most of the time, the quantities are indicated on the package.

I placed my rice in a salad bowl:

And I added the seasoning, remembering to mix:

Then I added all the ingredients one by one 👇

The salmon:

The nori seaweed:

The avocado:

And I mixed everything together:

22-sushis balls.jpg

Then, I finished by adding the cream cheese:

23-sushis balls.jpg

And I mixed everything together again:

24-sushis balls.jpg

Then, all I had to do was form balls with my hands and place them on a plate. To make this easier, you can place the mixture in the refrigerator for several minutes.

I added a few sesame seeds.

Once my sushi balls were formed, I placed them in the refrigerator for a few minutes (yes, we finally have a refrigerator).

And afterward, we simply enjoyed ourselves! We had a sushi ball party in front of a cartoon: Tarzan. 🍣đŸ“ș

I ate my sushi with sweet soy sauce and wasabi. I love this combo! 😋

In this photo, you can see @genesisledger and me, very happy to be eating sushi 😁

In short, it's a quick and easy recipe for making sushi (if you can call it that đŸ€Ł). While it doesn't replace the real recipe with the careful preparation of the rice and the assembly into a roll, it does the trick when you're craving sushi quickly! 👍

See you soon,
Johanna

1 - sushis balls.jpg

  • 200g de saumon frais ;
  • 250g de riz (du riz classique ou du riz Ă  sushi) ;
  • 2 avocats ;
  • 4 algues nori ;
  • 2 cuillĂšres Ă  soupe de fromage frais ;
  • Du vinaigre de riz ;
  • Du sucre ;
  • De l’eau ;

Alors, j’ai simplement mis mon riz Ă  cuire.

13-sushis balls.jpg

  • 5 cuillĂšres Ă  cafĂ© de vinaigre de riz ;
  • 1 cuillĂšre Ă  cafĂ© de sel ;
  • 1 cuillĂšre Ă  cafĂ© de sucre.

14-sushis balls.jpg
15-sushis balls.jpg
16-sushis balls.jpg

À bientît,
Johanna
