Hello, friends especially foodies!

Yesterday evening, me and my team work went to Sogogi, one of the All You Can Eat Shabu and Grill which had affordable price. Yes, with only 99,000 IDR plus 10% tax that would be 108,900 IDR or just around 6.85 USD for a person you could enjoy their shabu and grill.

For your information, this month is the fasting month for moslem friends and we went to Sogogi to celebrate it by eating together when it is already time for them to open or break the fast. The place Sogogi we chose because it was not too far away from our office and we also heard that this place had tasty shabu and grill so we thought about why not give it a try.

To eat in Sogogi for 9 of us, we needed to order almost a week before the date so we couldn't miss the chance to eat there. And it was right cause when we arrived their, they put the words on their glass door that they were fully booked for the time to open the fast.

Now let me tell you all about my experience there.

Lucky for us that we came there before the time to break the fast. We arrived there at almost 5.30 pm. The place looked not large from the outside and it was just like ordinary townhouse.

It's written on the banner that they had their new menu, agemono... We then assumed that we could have it too, we didn't with the price that supposed to be higher.

Good thing was we could take our seats (they already prepared it inside as we already booked) even before the time started. I haven't told you that we had the duration of 90 minutes to eat there and the period of our eating time would be started at 6 pm so we had to finish our food at 7.30 pm.

Inside was quite large, sorry cause i only took picture at one side of their dining area, but if you read my whole article you would see more about this dining area. They had a quite wide dining area with the food area in the center of the room. The food area was an area where you could take some ready to eat dishes. While around that area they also had fridge to put the meat and meatballs and some other raw materials like veggie, mushroom and so on.

For the menu, you could see that they offered shabu only, shabu and grill, and also shabu, grill and deep fried. Unfortunately they couldn't fullfill what we wanted about the package with the deep fried, it was because they had limited table with the agemono or deep fried cooking stove. So with the heavy hard we chose the second packages, shabu and grill.

We chose the regular package which means we could get 4 kind of meat like shortplate, rib eye, saikoro steak and chicken steak.

And also the choice of shabu soup we could choose were Korean spicy, Japanese kombu, Original, Spicy miso and Tom Yum.

As for we got three stoves in our table, we ordered two of their favorite Tom Yum and one of the spicy miso soup. But the stove right in front of me would be in Tom Yum soup shabu.

While waiting for the time, we took selfie together...

We then could start to take any food and drink we wanted at 6 pm. Anyway the drink they offered were only two kind of it, iced lemon tea and ocha.

20240404_175308.jpg

Iced lemon tea had sweet sour flavour while ocha had no sweet flavour at all.

After taking the drink, i went to the meat fridge then ready to eat food buffet area. Many customers were there, included my team, oh no i was late!

For the ready to eat food they had fried rice, fried veggie fritter, kway tiau (flat noodle), japchae, and fried water spinach.

Also they had teobboki there too.

I also took some meat for us to cook, and i had taken it before i took my ready to eat dinner.

On the corner they put the fridges with these raw materials like veggie, noodle, mushroom, and also watermelon cubes (the only one kind of fruit you could find there).

And in the other fridge they also had many kind of meatballs.

Here was my ready to eat dinner looked, and before i tell you about their shabu and grill, let me tell you about their ready to eat food.

The fried rice they cooked was so so, it only had savory flavour. The veggie fritter also was so so, with savory flavour and it was also not crunchy. Next, kway tiau had sweet spicy flavour and it weirdly stirred with my enemy, beansprouts haha. But this kway tiau tasted better than the fried rice and the veggie fritter i had.

For the jap chae it had light savory flavour and what special was their fried water spinach. Crunchy but not hard outside but it had the water spinach inside, i never tried this dish before and i thought it was tasty. And also teobboki had savory flavour with thick soup, it was just so so.

So, for the ready to eat food i only gave score 7 from 10 for the dishes they offered.

Anyway if you paid attention to my picture, you could find that they also had many kind of sauce or dressing right in front of the ready to eat food buffet area. The sauce could be used either to the raw meat or the cooked meat. For the sauce my favorite was the sauce in the middle of my sauce plate cause it had a bit spicy and sweet savory flavour.

Here was how our shabu and grill looked. The middle area was the area for grill while around it was the area for shabu.

We took saikoro steak meat, rib eye and also shortplate. Then we cooked them, we also took some kind of meatballs, sausage, dori fish, and cooked them in the shabu soup.

I don't know why the meat there couldn't be so tasty even if we dipped them in the sauce before cooking them.. So it made them less tasty :(. Plus the shortplate meat had so much fat.. The grilled meat tasted just so so cause it only had beef natural flavour and we must dipped it in sauce after it well cooked so we could had some flavours. Anyway, didn't like the other meat, the saikoro had juicy texture.

20240404_181511.jpg

And for the tom yum shabu soup, it had sour savory and a bit spicy flavour, it was okay to my tongue. The dori i ate was fresh and tasty. I honestly didn't prefer the sausage and meatball i had.. The meatballs contained too much flour in it.

Overall for the shabu and grill, i also gave 7 of 10 score to them. It was because the meat they served didn't tasty at all. And i was a bit dissapointed because there were some references about this place to have all you can eat shabu and grill.

Anyway they would give you also free ice cream. The choice of ice cream we could choose were chocolate, vanilla, melon milk, and pineapple.

From the picture, could you guess what ice cream i had last night?

Oh yes before we were going home, we took a picture together. The most important thing was togetherness, not the food we had. Right?
