Hello, friends especially foodies!
One Sunday, my family and i went to a seafood restaurant which was located not far from our city international airport. That day my aunt and her husband took us, my uncle, my dad and i, went to that restaurant. So this was the first time for me, dad and my uncle to go to this restaurant. And this was also the first time for my aunt and her husband to go there after the re-opening of the restaurant. Yes, before the covid 19 pandemic the restaurant had opened and it was popular but they closed during the pandemic.
Saung Bandara Restaurant
The restaurant named Saung Bandara. Saung is the small traditional house which came from West Java while Bandara means airport, from the name we could know that this restaurant sold west java seafood and located near airport, nice, it described the restaurant well.
When we arrived there it was still 10.23 am, the restaurant had just opened so it still had no customers before us. We planned to have brunch there, so there we went.
THE DINING AREA
We had our brunch in their indoor area with air conditioner. The room looked nice with mostly wooden furnish. It had batik motif floor with creme color, it looked nice too.
Outside there was empang, an artificial made of pond where the saungs located. No air conditioner if you ate in saung.
THE MENU
The menu that this restaurant had were Hongkong steamed grouper, saung bandara fried gourami, gourami in coconut soup, and they also had many kind of gourami dishes like Hongkong steamed, fan fried gourami, 2 chilli paste roasted gourami, and others.
They also had matah chili paste roasted pomfret, 2 chili paste roasted pomfret, dabu dabu roasted pomfret, and kind of fish dishes else.
For the other seafood dishes, they also had crab, shell, shrimp, squid, even chicken. There they also had kind of vegetables too.
And no much drink choices, they only had kind of fruit juice, tea and mineral water.
When we wanted to eat the food we ordered
THE TASTE OF THEIR FOOD
STEAMED SHRIMP
For the shrimp, they served it fresh. The flavour of the shrimps were natural sweet flavour of the shrimp. The shrimps were quite large and tasty too.
SALTED EGG FRIED SHRIMP
The fried shrimps had crunchy texture. It also made of fresh shrimps. Salted egg made the fried shrimps even more tasty, with savory flavour. The size of the shrimps were also quite large, like the steamed shrimp. Hmm, tasty!
SAUNG BANDARA FRIED GOURAMI
The fried gourami presented gourami fillets on the top with gourami without the meat at the back. Fried gourami fillets were crunchy outside but soft inside. The fillets were fried with the flour. It had savory flavour.
STIRRED WATER SPINACH
We ordered two kind of the water spinach. One only stirred with garlic. It had savory and sweet flavour. The spinach were soft and at the correct age to eat.
The second kind of water spinach we ordered was once stirred with shrimp paste. Beside the shrimp paste it also stirred with chili. It had savory, sweet and a bit spicy flavour. It also had soft texture and at the correct age to eat too.
FAN FRIED GOURAMI
Even it looked not so much like fan but the taste of it was so good. It had tasty savory flavour and made with their secret spices recipe. So beside it had tasty flavour, it also had good smell. And talking about the texture, it had soft crunchy texture outside with smooth meat inside. Beside so tasty, it was also fresh. Yummy!
HONGKONG STEAMED GROUPER
The grouper was also fresh. It had no fishy smell at all. The taste of it was tasty in savory. The grouper's meat was so smooth and the soup that it served with was rich in ginger. This was became our favorite too, so lucky for us, cause we ordered two portions of it.
