The restaurant named Rempah Bistro. It means Spices Bistro. The restaurant had branches in some of famous shopping centers in Jakarta.

When i arrived there at 11.18 am, the restaurant had already had some customers even before me so it made a conclusion that this restaurant had a popular name among its' customers.

THE DINING AREA

Inside, their dining area was large. It had plastic rattan chairs and wooden chairs plus sofa on the corner. On the ceiling they had fans which were turned off but it was okay cause it had air conditioners too. They had concept natural for the interior which could be seen from their wooden interior color and also artificial plants on the wooden plank right on one of its' side.

THE TASTE

CAP GO MEH RICE CAKE

20240218_113021.jpg

It was sliced rice cake with beef rendang (traditionally cooked beef) with salted fish on its' top, dried nut and tempeh, balado potato, chicken satay, half of the pindang egg, chayote and beans. Also it had crispy potato chips.

The taste of their

  • Beef Rendang:

Rendang is a traditionally cooked beef which made with coconut milk and other spices. It had soft texture with savory and spicy flavour. Rich in spices, these spices were absorbed through the rendang. And i never ate rendang like this before cause it was so unique with small salted fish on the top which brought savory flavour.

20240218_113107.jpg

  • Dried nut & tempeh: It had crunchy texture with sweet flavour.

  • Balado Potato: It was potato with stirred chili paste. It had sweet, savory and a bit spicy flavour.

  • Chicken satay: It had soft texture with sweet flavour.

20240218_113115.jpg

  • Chayote and beans: It had soft texture with the coconut milk flavour, savory and spicy.

  • Pindang Egg: It had light sweet flavour.

  • Potato chips: It had crispy texture with natural potato flavour.

Overall i gave 7/10 for the flavour and also its' serving. It was quite tasty but it was not one of the best i've ever had.

MIXED ICE

The mixed ice it had contained red sugar palm fruit, avocado, green jelly, grass jelly, fermented cassava, young coconut, basil and of course crushed ice.

The palm fruit had soft but chewy texture and it had sweet flavour. Avocado it was served with was fresh and tasty too.

While the green jelly and grass jelly brought its own sensation to the ice. The young coconut was thick but soft, it was fresh and high quality. The fermented cassava it served with was sweet and not sour.

Served with green syrup and condensed milk, the mixed ice tasted medium in sweetness and yes i loved it. They made it from high quality ingredients and all tasted so good. I

THE PRICE

20240218_120532.jpg

The price of the Cap Go Meh Rice cake was not 39K as they had mentioned, it was 48K IDR or around 3 USD before the service charge and tax. And for the mixed ice it was 41K IDR before the service charge and tax. So it was around 6.65 USD for the Cap Go Meh Rice Cake and mixed ice that i had. I gave 10/10 score for this menu, one of most try item from this restaurant.

Quite tasty, i recommend you to try to go to this restaurant if you wanna try our Indonesian food and dessert.
