A dining experience at My Kampung

There’s is a hawker food centre that has a nice vibe to it, it’s located inKallang Wave Mall and it’s called My Kampung. In English, the word “kampung” or “kampong” translates to a Malaysian enclosure or village.

The overall decorations is modern but there certain portions of the wall where they designed it with a mural-looking sticker.

I think that by giving a modern twist to a traditional food culture will garner more attention from the younger generation and get them to eat better and healthier food. I noticed that many of the customers are young while some are office workers from nearby offices.

The ambience is good and services of each stall are fast. The place is full yet there are no long queues. It’s a convenient place to dine and order affordable food.

I went to the Malaysian Street Food stall that offers a variety of pre-cooked dishes.

Although it was labelled as “Malaysian food”, some of the dishes were a variety of different cuisines. There are dishes that look like an authentic Malaysian which I haven’t tried. I’ll try to remember to try one of the dishes when I come back to this place.

Among the many good dishes on the display, I ordered the buttered chicken, sautéed tofu with green stems, and scrambled eggs with tomato.

The chef did a great job on each dish, I like them all.

The chicken tastes buttery, savory, & sweet! I like the balance of the flavor.

The tofu is cooked well and the green stems taste fresh and sweet. I can tell that it’s fresh because it’s still crunchy.

Their version of scrambled eggs feels like a “kampong-style” of cooking. By adding tomatoes to the scrambled egg it also added another layer of flavor into the dish, it’s good 👍.
