Teriyaki Beef Don experience at Unkai

If there's one thing that I appreciate about Japanese-inspired food is the presentation of it. The attention to detail is the focus on the arrangement of the ingredients in the dish. The clear distinction between it and the other cuisines is there, making it unique and worth paying for. Somehow, it looks elevated compared to the other cuisines because of the presentation level.

A few nights back, I had the chance to return to Unkai at the Old Airport Road food center to try another dish in their long list of menus. I ordered the Teriyaki Beef Don.

During my first visit to this stall, I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Don and it looks the same as this bowl. It only shows that the chef is dedicated to consistently creating their product.

It does seem that there's a consistent serving quantity and placement of each element in the bowl. The yellow thing on top of the coleslaw is an eye-catching feature of this presentation. It was the first thing that I tasted and it's good. How I wish that I wanted more of it.

The coleslaw has the right balance between sour, sweet, and fresh taste from the vegetables and the sauce. It goes well with the rice because it adds to the richness of the dish.

The beef slices were cooked at the right temperature. The teriyaki sauce has always been the most remarkable taste that I know about Japanese cuisine. I think it can be used for a variety of proteins. It can go well with chicken and fish as well.

There are a few more dishes that I want to try on my next visit. The fish dishes look interesting as well.

My journey to the world of food.
