Valentine's Dinner at Jonie's

Hello, sweeties! How was your Valentine's Day? Did you have a great time and create special moments with your loved ones? I hope you did. Well, mine was actually great! I had a fun cafe discovery, Everyday Coffee and Tea , and I enjoyed a lovely dinner with my mom at Jonie's Sizzlers and Roast, located at City Times Square in Mandaue City. So, let me share with you my experience.

Initially, we planned to have our dinner at Parkmall, but it was so crowded. We roamed around the place and every restaurant we see was filled with customers. So, we headed to City Times Square, just across the Parkmall.

My mom let me decide on which restaurant to choose for our dinner. I was initially in the mood for Korean, Chinese, or Japanese cuisine. However my mom mentioned there's a new branch of Jonie's Sizzlers and Roast there, so I chose it as our dinner spot.

The restaurant was quite full that night, and love was really in the air with the decorations and vibrant colors of red. It was a good thing that the line was a bit long because we couldn't decide right away what to order. With bundle options available, we had a hard time making our final decision.

Our first option was to have a Flaming bundle which costs a thousand-plus pesos but the food items for that bundle were not much to our liking, so we tried to find other options.

When we were almost next in line, that was when we noticed that they also offered couple bundles and the food items in them were better. I opted for the first couple bundle-it included fried calamari, pork ribs, fried chicken, two servings of rice, two glasses of iced tea, and a Valentines Cake. So, that was added to our order and we also ordered a supreme pork chop meal which was accompanied with iced tea.

Luckily, we found a seat outside. We actually had to wait for about 20 or 30 minutes for our order. There were only a few servers in their restaurant. While waiting for our food, we witnessed how one of their servers mistakenly serving the cake to the other customer, but it was quickly rectified after the customer brought it to their attention.

The Supreme Pork Chop meal was served first and it included an egg and a small sausage. The server forgot to clean our table first as he was putting our food on our table. He mentioned that they didn't really expect it to be a busy night for them. Nevertheless, even though we were really hungry that time, we didn't make a big deal out of it. What was important to us was that we got our food.

We didn't eat right away as we waited for the other food. When the rest of our order arrived, it looked absolutely delicious. And we dug in and enjoyed our meal.

My mom had the pork chop meal and we shared the fried calamari, pork ribs, and rice.

The food didn't disappoint us. Although I was looking forward to the calamari, the pork ribs stood out to me the most. They were savory, tender, and smoky.

Also, the gravy and barbecue sauce made our meal even more satisfying. However, my favorite is definitely the barbecue sauce because of its touch of sweetness.

The two fried chickens were what was left, and then we realized they forgot to give us the cake! The dessert was missing! We didn't act like Karens, though; that's just not our style.

We decided to bring the remaining two fried chickens home for our dogs because it would be unfair if they couldn't have a treat for Valentine's - come on! Even though I've been giving treats every day when I get home, it's still a requirement. Anyway, since we were already full and it was almost 11 pm, we brought the cake home as well.

The Valentine's cake was so cute! I loved it because it was not too sweet, so every bite of the cake made me crave more. I ate it all by myself at home because my mom didn't want it.

Although, we didn't have an extravagant celebration of Valentine's Day because we were both busy throughout the day and we only gathered and met during the night, it was still a special moment for us. My mom and I love eating food, and it just makes us happy. Thanks to Jonie's for the delicious meal.

I hope you enjoyed reading my food blog. Until next time, happy eating, sweeties!
