Grab Your Dose Of Delicious Food At BALAI BRUNCH!

Becoming a home buddy for the past months has sparked an interest in me to venture into new cafes and restaurants here in the city. Yes, being close to nature and the sea is what truly makes me go out into the world but since I currently live in the city, it takes me a just reason to leave the comforts of the four corners of my room. Alas, recently a good enough reason just presented itself to me.

@ybanezkim26 requested to meet up so I could return his SD Card. I then requested that we meet up at a different cafe than we normally would go to. After checking some options, I finally stumbled on the internet a unique but famous cafe located in A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue City. And that cafe is none other than Balai Brunch by Cafeplus Coffee.

As you should know BALAI is a local dialect that when translated means HOUSE. Yes, this cafe was originally a house converted into a cafe/restaurant. However, the word unique would be an understatement to describe the place.

The tables were made of wood, the ceiling was all black, chairs and floor tiles were in redwood color. The overall design and aesthetic of the place give this rustic yet cozy ambiance which will make you want to stay here for a long time. There are 3 function rooms inside perfect for business meetings or small celebrations.

They also have a nook where they sell locally made goods like peanut butter and nuts.

The outdoor is filled with tables and chairs which is also great if you prefer to be close to nature as trees and surrounding plants provide shade and coolness to outside diners.

Besides their Brunch dishes and coffee, this cafe also serves a variety of food! From soup, salad, and sandwiches, to pasta, to wraps and shawarma! Prices range from $3 to $13. The menu already provides a visual presentation of what you might be getting. And just by the looks of it, the food already looks delicious! @ybanezkim26 ordered the Chicken Wrap ($3.25) paired with Cumin Fries ($3). Since I'm a sucker for pasta, I went for the Creamy Pesto ($4.4) and paired it with a Caramel Macchiato Iced Coffee ($2.5).

Their chicken wrap is a must! The filling is stuffed with chicken meat and veggies paired with their sauce which added more flavor to it. The fries had a spicy flavor and a hint of citrus taste which I enjoyed. My only complain was they could have added more serving of it.

The creamy pesto was a delight to eat! Creamy but was just cooked with the right amount of sauce and spices! Good thing it wasn't soaked in too much olive oil (as what I experienced from another restaurant 😅) and the lemon juice added the citrus punch to its flavor!

We were satisfied with the quality and deliciousness of the food BALAI was able to offer! During my next visit here, I would try their famous Farooj Charcoal Chicken and the Kebab! This is a restaurant that is worth going to!
