Being a tourist in Kuala Lumpur can make me gain weight very drastically. How could it not be, all restaurants promise delicious food in my opinion. Let me tell you much about culinary delights in Kuala Lumpur!

Culinary Journey in Kuala Lumpur

Hello everyone, welcome to Isdarmady corner. Its time to show you about my experience while in Kuala Lumpur. I was so impressed with that city that in the end I never let it forget the taste on my tongue. I think, they have an interesting dish, namely, “Nasi Kandar”.

What is nasi kandar? As the name suggests, it is dominated by rice and filled with side dishes full of fat. Usually, nasi kandar is served on a plate on which lots of food such as rice, curry and vegetables are poured. Similar to 'Nasi Padang', but the taste is very different. Strangely, the shape is the same but why is it so different?

One of my goals is to go to the Nasi Kandar Umar restaurant which is very famous in Kuala Lumpur, but currently it is not as busy as before, people are even willing to queue to get nasi kandar at this restaurant. I think Umar's Nasi Kandar really suits my taste buds, because it tastes delicious, that's why I come back again.

Umar's Nasi Kandar is famous for its thick sauce, my favorite is Nasi Kandar with curry chicken and other Indian food. I'll just explain one by one what I ordered so you know what I like.

What is 'Nasi Kandar'

This is one portion of nasi kandar, I chose chicken curry and it was filled with abundant gravy. I asked for quite a lot of rice because I really like the taste of nasi kandar here. If you want to order, just one portion of white rice with Umar chicken is enough. To get a portion of Nasi Kandar Umar, I spent 9.5 rm, which in IDR is 30,000 rupiah.

Well, the difference with nasi Padang, nasi kandar has a slightly sweet and spiced taste typical of Indian food. Maybe because of the history that nasi kandar was made by Indians living in Malaysia, or the origin of the food itself. But what is clear is that the nasi kandar is really very delicious.

I also just found out that nasi kandar is not made from basmati rice but from rice generally found in Asia. Apart from nasi kandar, I also ordered a special menu:

Naan Bread For Breakfast
Another special menu, the bread that is the most difficult to find in my city. Naan bread, its good for you guys. It feels very thin like tissue, especially if served warm. You see on my plate, the naan bread is so big, the contents are puffy air like Mrs. Puff in the Spongebob series.

The naan was so soft, with some flavorful condiments. There are several sauces and one part with mesh potatoes, podimaas. Of course the taste is so strong from the spices, the strength of Indian food is of course from the rich spices, combined with the cooking expertise in serving it.

Usually this is the local people's breakfast, just like 'roti jala' in Indonesia. Of course I didn't finish it all myself, there were several other dishes on the menu but I quickly finished eating them and I didn't have time to take a photo. That's me, when I'm hungry and forget everything!

Nasi Kandar Umar is in the Bukit Bintang area, I also came here because I had to go to KL Sentral and stopped for a while. I wish I could take my food home and I will stock it. But it's not easy, there are many risks. This is very happy enough.

This place is pretty cool, well I rarely try India food, and usually they never have in the menu where I am at, sure this will offer everyone a very nice experience.
