Recently I was browsing my HIVE feed when I came across a post by @geekgirl. She was looking to purchase 50 HBD worth of pizza for fellow HIVE users, to prove that HIVE can be used for pizza purchases. "No money is officially money until you buy pizza with it", @geekgirl said. Pizza was the first ever recorded purchase using bitcoin. A man named Laszlo posted on a Bitcoin forum in May 2010, offering to pay 10,000 BTC for a couple of pizzas. The pizzas were delivered and history was made. Today, those 10,000 BTC would be worth roughly $630,000,000.00 (very expensive pizzas).

Now it's HIVE's turn to be Pizza Certified, thanks to a great initiative by @geekgirl. Nine different HIVE users were given HBD to purchase a pizza for themselves. Below is a list of the HBD Pizza Certification participants.

Originally, I planned to order an Artichoke Heart pizza with tomato sauce, olives, prosciutto and basil from a local restaurant for $15, as you can see in the comment below. Unfortunately when I called to place the order, the restaurant informed me that their pizza oven was broken and they were unable to make pizzas.

I decided to order from a different pizza place (Fino Pizza Bar), but I made sure that the pizza was also the same price ($15). I ordered half Pepino's and half Italiano. Pepino's consisted of Sopressata, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and Kalamata olives, while the Italiano consisted of meatball, fontina, cherry peppers and parmesean.

As you can see below, it was a glorious, Italian-style pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven. This was my first time trying pizza from Fino Pizza Bar and I was certainly impressed. The light, airy dough had a great flavor and the toppings were delicious. I finished the entire thing by myself in one-sitting. It tasted even better knowing that it was paid for with HIVE Dollars! HIVE is now officially Pizza Certified!
