No oven? No problem! I got you a pan!

It's always been my dream to have an oven in my kitchen, however, I'm still saving for it because that's my personal "want". Anyway, that doesn't stop me from experimenting with food.

A few days ago we (the family) are craving pizza, since we are away from civilization, I think of another idea on how to make a pizza without using an oven. Then, a FRYING PAN came across my mind. I have a little knowledge of how to make a pizza when I was still a working student. Now, I can apply it to my family.

This SKILLET PIZZA or PIZZA IN A PAN is now one of the favorites of my kids. I'm not a professional cook and this is only my version of making one. Without much ado, let's start cooking!

Let's prepare the ingredients:

For the dough

  • all-purpose flour
  • yeast
  • water
  • oil
  • sugar
  • salt

For the toppings

  • pizza sauce
  • cheese
  • ham
  • bell pepper
  • chili pepper
  • white onion
  • pineapple tidbits

Procedure:

For Pizza Dough:

Pour ¾ cup of warm water into a basin, add 1 teaspoon of yeast, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of sugar then stir until the bubbles are gone.

IMG_20230730_180949.jpg

Add 2 cups of all-purpose flour then mix.

IMG_20230730_181327.jpg

IMG_20230801_200139.jpg

Mix until all the flour is combined. I don't have any equipment for this but my hand can do all. Massage the dough until it is fully combined.

IMG_20230730_181823.jpg

After kneading the dough, put 2 teaspoons of oil. Then cover with clean plastic or cloth. In this case, I used plastic. Set aside so it rises double its size.

For the toppings

Ordinary cheese

Mozzarella cheese

While waiting for the dough to rise, I washed all the ingredients and cut into my desired size. Grated the 2 types of cheese. Mozzarella cheese is optional. I just wanted to add mozzarella to experience it's elastic and sticky when cooked.

1 and ½ hours is the preferred time to double its volume however I wasn't able to wait so, I get it after half an hour and it was still good.

The texture of the dough is elastic and smooth. When I get it from the basin, it's not sticking on my hand since it has oil. I don't have a rolling pin so I use an improvised one, a glass.

IMG_20230730_184859.jpg

Here's my dough! It's not that perfect round but it's still okay.

In a skillet, put the pizza dough. Get a silicone brush and brush the pizza sauce (I use Italian pizza) until the entire circle already has sauce.

IMG_20230730_185404.jpg

Next, put the ordinary cheese. Then all the other ingredients.

IMG_20230730_185440.jpg

It's all set. It's good to go!

In a low heat of fire put the frying pan on the stove for 45 minutes.

IMG_20230730_191707.jpg

It's almost cooked! Let's put the mozzarella cheese. Excited!

It smells good and I find it delectable already.

It's cooked! My version of a pizza in a pan! From the pan, I transferred it to a round plate but when I tried to cut it, it was not cooperating so I transferred it again to my chopping board. Now, it's working. The ooey-gooey mozzarella cheese seems yummy just like a pizza in the established store.

It's crust is just perfect for me. The back dough is also perfect, it's brown and soft.

I like hot sauce so I bought this and pour onto a piece of my pizza.

My kids and stepdaughtersers are enjoying the pizza🥰. They were so happy that I made one.

IMG_20230730_193726.jpg

This is my first time cooking a pizza but it's already good for us. Believe me or not it tastes like any other pizza we can find in the store.

I am fond of experimenting with food and exploring kinds of food. It's like an adventure that we'd like to put in our mouths. It sounds rewarding when we less expect of everything that we do. Like I'm not expecting this result however it's fulfilling seeing my kids eating with joy and what's more important is that they enjoy and they eat all up. I'm in cloud 9 everytime they like my cooked food.

That's all for today's foodie blog hivers. See you on the next one!
