There are a lot of trends today been hyped in some other social media appeared to be "Tanghulu" is one of those. Tanghulu is a Chinese snack or street food in which fruits coated with melted white sugar. The famous fruit among all is the strawberry🍓. However, as I have seen on videos, other content creators tried fruits like apple, orange, grapes, and others. So today, I want to try this trending Tanghulu with the main ingredient, strawberry.
When I explored Naga City during my training, I was curious about the street food they sell. First, these strawberries packed according to sizes selling it 150 pesos or 2.66 USD. They also sell Tanghulu which I saw them making one.
They made an alternative for strawberry as well so that people can choose what they want. But I wanted to try pure strawberry so I bought one stick. Each stick costs 50 pesos or 0.88 USD. Those with marshmallows and grapes costs 60 pesos or 1.06 USD.
There were five small strawberries in one stick coasted with melted sugar. I was so excited to taste one. However, when I bite it, oooohhhhh I got turned off😢 it's soft! It should be as hard as rock! Crunchy and hearing the cracking rock sugar😭. Maybe they missed a little bit of time or ingredient or I don't know. Still, I continued eating them. The sugar lingered on my teeth leaving me hard to chew. Plus the strawberries taste bland. So, I'll rate their Tanghulu 3/10 because the presentation was good enough to attract costumers.🥹
Soon, I'll make my own version that I may call EPIC!
They also have strawberry jam but I didn't buy one due to discouragement.
I would not left this plaza without trying their street foods. I proceeded to another cart selling food for dinner.
Saw this Tintin's Isawan cart. I stopped and it's inviting me to buy some.
I saw corndog, been hyped in social media as well. Wanted to try this the longest time and now it's right in front of le now. It is made of cheese and hotdog rolled with flour and bread cramps. It sounds easy yet it's tricky and hassle, however it's yummy. It can be eaten alone or with rice. I prefer be it with rice, I can't live without it🥹.
I have chosen corndog, kwek-kwek (quail's egg), isaw (chicken intestine coated with flour), chicken skin and two hanging rice. There were a lot of food we can chose from. They will be heated after being chosen in a large saucepan. What I don't like about it, was that, it's being used for many times. Anyway, it's just this night I cheat eating.
Together with other teachers from training, we ate our dinner happily. I'll rate this food 8/10. I was almost full, the sauces were much good. Yummy.
Talking about the elegance we have seen from the surroundings. Yet, Naga City is incomparable to any other cities. Walking right after knocking down street food would be the best part of the evening. Felt the cold night missing my family from afar.
