One of the most well-liked and healthful snacks in my country is chinchin, which is also really easy to prepare. Allow me to share the recipe with you all.
INGREDIENTS:
840g (7cups) Plain Flour
200g Sugar (1 cup)
1/2 tsp Baking powder
2 tspCinnamon Powder / nutmeg
Milk flavor 1 satchet
2 Eggs
300ml Whole or Diluted Evaporated Milk
80g (4 tbsp) Butter
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
PROCEDURE:
Before we start, make sure you wash your hands with soap and water under running water because we will be using our hands more in the process.
STEP 1:
Get a big bowl, place a sieve on it and then pour in 840g flour in it, add in the measured 200g gradunated sugar, 1/2 tsp Baking powder, add 1 satchet milk flavour
2 tspCinnamon Powder / nutmeg for this, its either you buy the instant powder nutmeg or you grate it into powder form. After you must have poured all the dry ingredients, you sieve them to avoid lumps.
STEP 2 :
Combine all of the ingredients with your hands or a spatula, then break the eggs and pour them into the mixture. Stir it to allow the egg to blend with the other ingredients, then add 4tsp of butter (80g).
Stir continuously so your ingredients mix together very well, continue to mix until you achieve a crumly texture.
STEP 3 :
Once you've gotten a crumby texture, add your milk. I recommend that you pour in your evaporated or diluted milk gently, little by bit. As your pour in the milk, keep mixing with your clean hands, as you mix you will pour in the desired quantity of milk until its smooth.
STEP 4 :
Transfer it to a hard surface so you can knead it properly it. When its smooth and non-sticky put it into a clean bowl and leave it for 30 minutes.
STEP 5:
Sprinkle some flour on a hard surface and then place the dough. The reason for sprinkling the flour is to stop the dough from sticking on the hard surface.
Use a roller pin or a bottle to roll the dough to flatten it so you can cut out desired shape and sizes.
STEP 6:
Here is the final step, it can be baked or fried. Its more healthier to bake it but i prefer it fried. In this recipe i will share the frying method.
Heat up vegetable oil on a medium heat, when its hot , you can start frying. Stir it consistently until its golden brown.
For the baking method, you can bake it in the preheated oven for 20 minutes at 170°C/ 340°F.
Crunchy chinchin is ready, you can take it with any desired drink. I hope you liked the recipe, do well to try it out, i will be glad if you do😊
