Yes Pho: Baguio City's Vietnamese Cuisine

in Foodies Bee Hive2 years ago (edited)

I am sharing with you our Yes Pho experience located here in Baguio City and one of the city's places for Vietnamese Cuisine. It's another #SublimeSunday by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday by @ace108 and this time it's a foodie post.

This was a last minute decision and it was one of those spur-of-the-moment decisions that we were glad we did. We have been here to Yes Pho: Baguio City's Vietnamese Cuisine a few times before anyway so we know it will not disappoint. Every visit is a delight.

When we got there, we were the only customers since it's still early for lunchtime. We took our seats and were given the menu right away. Looking at it, I decided to go for Buon Thit Nuong and my partner went for Pho Bo Vien (Meatball Pho). We also added pomelo salad to that.

While waiting for our order, I took a photo of the place. It's a little shop with four tables outside and two inside. It could get cramped if it's a busy time. We chose to sit outside anticipating the busyness when other diners will arrive. Fortunately, only one other table was occupied while we were there but were were almost done by then.

The Vietnamese hats are used as light shades and they do make a great decor. It's the only thing that gives you that sense of Vietnamese.

There's nothing fancy inside but there are merchandises and other products there that are for sale like honey coffee, chili sauce, etc. I do remember the last time we were here there were more decors and other Vietnamese stuff in there but I haven't seen any of those now.

I do like this tissue holder of theirs.

It's good that they are with Grab. There were actually orders being prepared that are for pick up while we were there. They also accept Gcash as payment aside from cash but cards are not accepted.

Our first order arrived which was the pomelo salad. It consists of pomelo, dried squid, slices of pork, shrimp, sprinkled with sesame seeds, chopped cilantro leaves, fried garlic and soaked in nuoc mam sauce or Vietnamese fish sauce which tastes sweet.

This salad comes with colorful cracklings. This is such a delicious salad. There's a hint of mint from the cilantro, the sourness of pomelo although not juicy and the other seafood taste of the other ingredients plus the sauce. Great starter already.

About 2-3 minutes after the salad was served, our other orders arrived.

I love how everything looks already. So colorful and tasteful just by looking at them.

My eyes are feasting and my mind says eat now but I still have to take photos first.

Bun Thit Nuong as described in their menu consists of dry vermicelli. What makes it wet is the nuoc mam sauce. It has lettuce, mint, slices of carrots and radishes, sprouted beans, cilantro, cucumbers, fried rolls and you have choices of pork, chicken, shrimp or tuna. I chose grilled pork. It is sprinkled with some onions, fresh and fried garlic.

Eating this is a palatial trip! The fried roll alone tastes so good. It's not just wrapper but more of filling. The wrapper is crunchy and the inside is soft.

Meatball Pho or Pho Bo Bien comes with rice noodles, sliced meaballs, mint, cilantro, sliced onions, leeks and sprouted beans. This is in a broth that has that comforting taste. They also have additional ingredients on the side and slices of lemons.

Everything is well balanced in terms of taste. Nothing is that overpowering. From the pomelo salad alone and the side dish, there are different textures and tastes.

That was one enjoyable time that we had. It is refreshing and at the same time fulfilling.

If this is how Vietnamese cuisine tastes like, then I don't have to travel there anymore. Still, it would be nice to do so to compare.

When it's your first time to visit the place, you wouldn't think that this small shop serves such goodness and deliciousness. The place is small. It's a corner of the building. Nothing view to appreciate for it's just the highway that you see. However, once you get to taste their dishes, then you will not regret it.

I have nothing to say to this place other than praises. If you appreciate the goodness of veggies without that much salt or other additives, then Yes Pho: Baguio City's Vietnamese Cuisine is the place for you.

It's always 5/5 for me.

I hope you get to visit whenever you are in the city and would like it too :D There used to be another Vietnamese restaurant here owned and managed by Vietnamese but pandemic happened and sadly they closed shop. I would recommend that too if only they didn't close.

This place looks authentic enough. Love the chicken pattern bowl. We have that at many stalls too.

I might have to take their word for it that it is authentic :D That's nice that it is more common there. I hope we can have more like this in our city.

Wew. Not sure if it was a good or bad idea to open your post. lol. I've been craving Chinese food since yesterday, today, beef caldereta, then I saw this. Legit Asian food craving. Waaahhh.

Sorry about that lol! Hope you get to satisfy your craving soonest :D

I already added to basket my order online, but cancelled. My kids are not very fond of meat, and the husband does not eat beef. Sooo, haaayyy. hahaha

Maybe you could make a special request to separate the meat so you can enjoy all by yourself? :D :D

Made me hungry again, uncle Arif 😲

Lol! Me too just by looking at the photos.
