The Big Barn, Bangalore

Good day!

I haven't been active here for a while now. Was quite engrossed in a fresh stream of studies. My legal studies have just begun, and they have been very busy. Exams, moot court competitions, internships, and more exams!

It took me some time, but now that I'm starting to get used to the routine, I'm going to try to continue writing blogs up here.

And so today, I'd like to share with you my most recent culinary experience at a newly opened restaurant called "The Big Barn" in today's blog.

Walking into the premises, I was definitely mesmerised by the way they had built this place. The place is divided into three areas - a café, a tiki cocktail bar and a taproom. They have outdoor seating with an open top to stargaze while you enjoy your favourite cocktails. Although Bangalore skies are not very clear, it did feel therapeutic to be sitting there.

There are numerous options and a large menu at The Big Barn. The first category, salads, is where we started. The Kosambari Pineapple Salad was our first course. This was priced at INR 185 (2.25 USD). The Pomelo Citrus Salad, which cost INR 225 (2.75 USD), was another dish we sampled. The latter I found to be incredibly enjoyable.

The Aloo Tikki, which was priced at INR 325 (3.96 USD), was our next stop. Although somewhat bland, it was a good appetizer.

I absolutely enjoyed the Paneer Koli Fry, a vegetarian starter that was priced at INR 325 (3.96 USD). The flavours were spot on, and the Paneer was super crunchy.

The TBB Spicy Prawns are a go-to at the price of INR 445 (5.42 USD) for those who enjoy seafood. I couldn't identify the dip, but it complemented the fried prawns quite well.

For main course, they have the Mangalorean Neer Dosas with Chicken Curry. “Neer Dosa” translates to Water Dosa from the language Tulu, which is a regional language in Mangalore, Karnataka. Dosas are a type of crêpe and are prepared by soaking rice overnight and making batter out of it. Since I hail from Mangalore, this is a dish very close to my heart.
This was priced at INR 295 (3.59 USD) and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We also had Mangalore styled fish curry priced at INR 315, and the flavours of this were spot on too. We tried the Thai Red Curry, priced at INR 355 (4.32 USD). It was coconut-y and a little on the sweeter side, but it went well with the dosas.

The bartenders here are incredibly skilled and created wonderful cocktails for us based on our preferences. Prices for them ranged from INR 220 (2.68 USD) to INR 600 (7.30 USD).

That’s all for this post. If you got till the end of the post, thank you for reading! Do drop a vote and a comment if you liked it. And of course, a reblog if you loved it. ✨

There was really a lot on the table to eat and enjoy. This place looks great and is good price for the money. Assorted dishes too. That Thai Red Curry is my top pick, looks exactly like one of our local soup here. Really wish I could taste it.

Hehe, yes. I’m not a lawyer yet. I’m in the first year of college and it’s all very new to me. But I’m also really interested in the field, so am enjoying learning new things. 😄

That's great
