One of the perks of having a garden is growing your own food — which is tastier, healthier & cheaper.

I love pesto — with pasta, of course, but also with just about anything else: bread, meats, eggs, you name it.

My wife uses garlic cloves, roasted pine nuts, grated Parmesan, olive oil salt, pepper and lemon juice.
Sage, spinach and dill are exciting alternatives for pesto sauce. I'm fairly new to this cooking game, but always up for experimenting :)

Is pesto without basil OR pine nuts still pesto, you might ask? Yes most definitely .. experimentation was inspired by different tastes of pesto in Italy.

Yes, I've heard of using walnuts (for volume) as a substitute for pine nuts, and might serve with a side dish of mozzarella and tomatoes.
