Hoy me desperté con un gran antojo de comer pescado frito… me fui al mercado y lo mejor que pude conseguir fueron unas merluzas, así que las preparé acompañadas con unos ricos tostones de plátano verde que me recuerdan a mi amada patria y una rica ensalada. Así que sin más preámbulos vamos por esa preparación.

Today I woke up with a great craving for fried fish... I went to the market and the best I could get were some hake, so I prepared them with some delicious green plantain tostones that remind me of my beloved homeland and a delicious salad. So without further ado, let's go for that preparation.


⭐ Ingredientes para la ensalada de vegetales:
2 tomates maduros
1 pepino
1 cebolla
1 lechuga
1 limón
Sal y aceite

⭐ Ingredients for the vegetable salad:

2 ripe tomatoes
1 cucumber
1 onion
1 lettuce
1 lemon
Salt and oil


⭐ Preparación de la ensalada:

1.- Se lavan y desinfectan con agua y vinagre los vegetales por 10 minutos
2.- Se pican y trocean los vegetales y se incorporan a un bol. Apartando unas hojas de lechuga para adornar el emplatado.
3.- Se adereza la ensalada a gusto.

⭐ Salad preparation:

1.- Wash and disinfect the vegetables with water and vinegar for 10 minutes.
Chop and cut the vegetables and add them to a bowl. Set aside some lettuce leaves to garnish the plating.

⭐ Ingredientes necesarios para los tostones:

  • 1 plátano verde
  • ajo
  • sal
  • Aceite suficiente para freír

⭐ Ingredients needed for tostones:

  • 1 green plantain
  • garlic
  • salt
  • Enough oil for frying

⭐ Preparación de los tostones de plátano verde:

1.- Se le quita la cascara al plátano y se pica en tajadas de 2 centímetros aproximadamente
2.- Se fríen en aceite caliente hasta que doren un poco
3.- Se toman las tajadas de plátano verde fritas y se pisan en una mezcla hecha con ajo y sal
4.- Se fríen nuevamente y se colocan en un plato con servilleta o papel absorbente para eliminar el exceso de aceite.

Preparation of the green plantain tostones:
1.- Remove the banana peel and cut into slices of approximately 2 centimeters.
2.- Fry them in hot oil until they are slightly browned.
3.- Take the fried green plantain slices and mash them in a mixture made with garlic and salt.
Fry them again and place them on a plate with a napkin or absorbent paper to remove the excess oil.

⭐ Ingredientes necesarios para rebozar y freír el pescado

  • 4 filetes de merluza sin espinas
  • 1 huevo
  • Harina precocida de maíz
  • Sal
  • Ajo
  • Aceite suficiente para freír

⭐ Ingredients needed for battering and frying the fish.

  • 4 hake fillets without bones
  • 1 egg
  • Precooked corn flour
  • Salt
  • Garlic
  • Enough oil for frying

⭐ Preparación del pescado:
1.- Se aderezan con sal los filetes de merluza
2.- Se pasan por el huevo batido y luego por la harina de maíz (Prefiero la harina de maíz para rebozar porque las piezas quedan más crocantes y no se quema tan rápido el aceite)
3.- Se fríen en suficiente aceite bien caliente.

Preparation of the fish:
1.- Season the hake fillets with salt.
2.- Dip them in beaten egg and then in corn flour (I prefer corn flour for breading because the pieces are crispier and the oil does not burn so fast).
3.- Fry them in enough hot oil.

What a great-looking recipe! I love fish. Though I don't eat much fried food, this dish looks really great!

I love the fact that all the vegetables look really fresh and the ingredients are pretty easy to get. I think I might just try this weekend!

Hi! thanks for reading and your comments. It was really delicious, I like to eat fresh products and I usually don't eat fried either. However if you do the frying in abundant and very hot oil, the overflowing piece does not absorb so much fat. Once in a while it doesn't hurt and it's even healthy for the mind to go off the diet hahahaha. Happy weekend...
