For me, there are three loves for teachers: a love for the learners, a love of learning, and the love of the first two together. It comes from the heart, not from the book itself. --- English as a Second Language, or ESL, teaching is quite a challenging, rewarding, and enjoyable experience for me. We need to understand and adapt the students' differences and cultures while teaching them since they came from different countries.
I've been working as an ESL teacher both in school in a camp class with Japanese students and in private tutoring for Korean. It takes a lot of patience on the first day to get their attention to listen to your discussion, especially with the kids. On the other hand, some of the Japanese and Korean students are very organized, well-mannered, and kind. It's very rewarding to see your students get it or learn even basic English. I'm very grateful I got the opportunity to meet and teach these kinds of students. Most especially to their parents, who are very thoughtful and give presents, took us outside for eat out when our class is about to end and they need to go back to their country. Hearing and accepting their mistakes is a good practice, as is teaching the correct one from time to time until they learn from the lessons. A learning process for both teachers and students. As they say, mistakes lead to learning. We really don't know; maybe one day they will find you again or contact you to thank you for being the best teacher they ever had!
It's very important to just listen to the side of the students, especially when they are in a bad mood, struggling with learning, or frustrated. We need to stay calm and let the students blow off steam. Never ever show negative actions to the students or snap at them since these can result in bad effects and make them discouraged to learn. Always practice giving them recognition or praise for even little things that can make them happy and build their confidence. In this way, they will not feel discouraged when they fail or make mistakes. In terms of money, you may not get rich, but in terms of experiences, you surely will. 😊
Thank you again, lovies! I appreciate you taking the time to connect with me even your busy schedules. And yeah.. It's almost the weekend 😉 Enjoy and Stay safe. 🙏🏼 ❤️
