Step by Step - Erkundungstour Teil II / Step by step - exploring tour part II (GER/ENG) 🤓

Seit ich in dieser so geschichtsträchtigen Gegend wohne (Salzkammergut Österreich), komme ich nicht daran vorbei die Wege der Kaiser, Künstler und Heiligen zu gehen. In der Schule war es einfach ein Lernfach und interessiert mich null, nada, niente. Zudem bin ich auch die Person die JETZT lebt und nicht in der Vergangenheit.

Doch jetzt komme ich irgendwie nicht daran vorbei und finde es noch spannend. So kam es, dass ich mich auf einen Pilgerweg begeben habe. Ich bin zwar katholisch aufgewachsen, kann jedoch mit der Kirche an sich nichts mehr anfangen.

Ich erkunde ja gerade mein neues Zuhause und das sehr gerne wandernd. Also nun zum Pilgerweg. Da geht es um die Entstehung von Sankt Wolfgang. Der Weg beginnt bei Ried/St. Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee und führt ziemlich steil den Berg hinauf über die Falkensteinwand zur Falkenstein-Kapelle. Auf dem Weg beschreiben Tafeln, was sich damals zugetragen haben soll.

HIER ALSO DIE LEGENDE VOM PILGERWEG

Der Bischof Wolfgang lebte als Einsiedler am Falkenstein. Als er hier von immer mehr Pilgern besucht wurde, beschloss er, im Tal eine Kirche zu bauen. Doch über den Standort war er sich nicht im Klaren. Er bat Gott um Hilfe. Da nahm er eine Hacke, warf sie ins Tal und dort, wo er sie wiederfand, begann er mit dem Kirchenbau. Der Teufel bot sich an dem Bischof dabei zu helfen. „Was ist dein Preis?“ fragte Wolfgang. „Das erste Geschöpf, das die Kirche betritt, gehört mir, mit Leib und Seele“.

Nach langem Überlegen willigte der weise Bischof Wolfgang ein. Bald war das Gotteshaus fertig und der erste Besucher wurde erwartet. Da schlüpfte ein Wolf in die Kirche und der Teufel musste diesen als Lohn nehmen. Mit furchtbarem Gebrüll packte der Teufel das wilde Tier und fuhr mit ihm in die Hölle hinab.

Nach dem Besuch der Kapelle folgte ich dem Weg Richtung St. Gilgen und auch hinunter ging es wieder ziemlich steil. Pilger müssen ja bekanntlich Busse tun und leiden. Zu diesem Zweck trugen sie Steine mit sich und wurden in der Nähe der Kapelle abgelegt und das ergab dann diese Steinberg.

Von diesen Steinhaufen hat es ganz viel um die Kapelle.

Unten angekommen, bei wunderbar warmem Wetter, entschloss ich den Wasserweg zurück zu nehmen. Endlich konnte ich mein Vorhaben eine Bootsfahrt auf dem Wolfgangsee zu machen, nachkommen.

In der Falkensteinwand gibt es auch den höchsten Spot für Klippenspringer in Europa. 30 m hoch! Das klingt im ersten Moment nicht hoch, wenn ich daran denke, da zu springen, wird mir doch ganz anders. 😎

Since I live in this historic area (Salzkammergut Austria), I can't avoid walking the paths of emperors, artists and saints. At school it was simply a subject and interests me zero, nada, niente. In addition, I am also the person who lives NOW and not in the past.

But now I somehow can't get past it and find it still exciting. So it happened that I went on a pilgrimage. Although I grew up Catholic, I can no longer relate to the Church itself.
I'm currently exploring my new home and I love hiking. So now to the pilgrimage. It is about the origin of Sankt Wolfgang. The trail starts at Ried/St. Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee and leads quite steeply up the mountain over the Falkensteinwand to the Falkensteinkapelle. On the way, plaques describe what is said to have happened at that time.

HERE IS THE LEGEND OF THE PILGRIMAGE ROUTE

Bishop Wolfgang lived as a hermit at Falkenstein. When he was visited by more and more pilgrims, he decided to build a church in the valley. But he was not clear about the location. He asked God for help. Then he took a hoe, threw it into the valley, and where he found it, he began to build the church. The devil offered to help the bishop. "What's your price?" asked Wolfgang. "The first creature to enter the Church belongs to me, body and soul". After much deliberation, the wise Bishop Wolfgang agreed. Soon the church was finished and the first visitor was expected. Then a wolf slipped into the church and the devil had to take it as a reward. With a terrible roar, the devil seized the wild beast and drove it down to hell.

After visiting the chapel I followed the path towards St. Gilgen and also down it went quite steep again. It is well known that pilgrims have to repent and suffer. For this purpose, they carried stones with them and were placed near the chapel and this resulted in these stones.

There is a lot of these piles of stones around the chapel.

Once at the bottom, in wonderfully warm weather, I decided to take the waterway back. Finally I was able to fulfill my plan to make a boat trip on the Wolfgangsee.

In the Falkensteinwand there is also the highest spot for cliff divers in Europe. 30 m high! That doesn't sound high at first, when I think about jumping there, it becomes quite different to me.
