Im Krypto-Winter Punsch/Tee trinken beim Hive-Meetup im Alten AKH (Uni Campus) in Wien 😄
War ziemlich kalt draußen und wir haben ein bisschen darüber philosophiert, welcher Coin als nächstes crashen könnte.
Mache mir zum Beispiel Sorgen um Tether. Tether ist in den letzten zwei Jahren enorm gewachsen und hat mittlerweile eine MarketCap von 65 Milliarden Dollar, vor Corona nur 5 Milliarden.
Das ganze Projekt kommt mir seit eh und je eher dubios vor, es gibt kein wirkliches Auditing und niemand weiß, ob Tether wirklich ein Voll-Reservesystem hat oder ob Tether einfach aus dem Nichts gedruckt werden. Auch ein Teil-Reservesystem wäre bei einem "Bank-Run" fatal.
Andererseits hat Tether schon so lange überlebt und irgendwie scheint es doch ziemlich stabil zu funktionieren. Ein Crash wäre jedenfalls noch dramatischer als FTX, da Tether der meist genutzte Stablecoin ist.
Andererseits gibt es auch andere Stablecoins, die die Funktion von Tether übernehmen könnten.
Was meint ihr? Welcher Coin macht euch die meisten Sorgen im Moment?

Was pretty cold outside and we philosophized a bit about which coin could crash next.
I'm worried about Tether for example. Tether has grown tremendously in the last two years and now has a MarketCap of 65 billion dollars, before Corona only 5 billion.
The whole project seems rather dubious to me since the launch, there is no real auditing and no one knows if Tether really has a full-reserve system or if Tether is just printed out of thin air. Even a partial reserve system would be fatal in the event of a "bank run."
On the other hand, Tether has survived for so long and somehow it seems to work quite stable after all. Anyway, a crash would be even more dramatic than FTX, since Tether is the most used stablecoin.
On the other hand, there are other stablecoins that could take over Tether's function.
What do you guys think? Which coin are you most worried about right now?

Kleiner Nachtrag zur Tether Diskussion von gestern: im Idealfall wird Tether von einer dezentralen Stablecoin abgelöst. Die Ablöse passiert nicht durch einen Crash, sondern langsam und graduell.
Im Moment sieht es aber leider nicht so aus, als ob so etwas in der Richtung in den nächsten Jahren passieren wird. Daher wäre es schon ein erster Teilerfolg, wenn USDC Tether eines Tages an Marketcap überholen würde.
USDC hat auch eine beachtliche MarketCap von 43 Milliarden und könnte Tether wirklich einmal überholen.

yeah that is true but a 65 billions hit would hurt a lot on the price of btc u.u drawing down the prices even more, hopefully that will not happen

I don't usually use stablecoins, except for HBD, so I'm not too worried. But all this reminds me a lot of the year 2000 and the path that technology traveled. Many coins will fall along the way but BTC and the crypto market will be much bigger in 10 years.
