POMPEII MOVIE REVIEW

in CineTV2 days ago

I'm sure we all know how Romans were brutal leaders in time past. This is my first time reviewing a movie on CineTV and I hope I'm able to bring alive the thriller and chaos of the ancient Roman city.

Plot overview-

The movie Pompeii centers around a boy named Milo played by Kit Harington, whose family was killed when he was very young. His family and the people of his entire village were murdered by Roman soldiers, led by Corvus(Kiefer Sutherland).

Years later, Milo grew up as a skilled gladiator and was brought to Pompeii, because of his skillfulness, and pitched against the reigning champion, in a gladiatorial game. But things turned around and they became close allies in the long run.

Milo later meets Cassia (Emily Browning), whose father Severus (Jared Harris), was a wealthy merchant in Pompeii.
Things started to get ugly when Cassia returned from Rome, disgusted and disappointed by the happenings there, she swore never to go back.

Corvus, a ruthless Roman senator, a tyrant, and the film's antagonist, came to Pompeii to propose a business deal to Severus (Cassia's father). Severus wasn't comfortable with Corvus' business deal but he was aware that refusing him could bring harm to his family and business. Unwillingly Severus agreed to the deal because he was desperate for support, to fund the harbour project, which was crucial to Pompeii's economic future.

Now, Corvus had eyes on Cassia as she was very pretty and pressured Severus into agreeing to give out his daughter as his wife, although Cassia strongly opposed.

Cassia noticed Milo for his bravery and kindheartedness which was in contrast to the cruelty of gladiators. Corvus noticed Cassia had eyes only for Milo and vice versa and viewed this as an act of defiance. He felt threatened and drew up a plan to kill Milo by setting him up in gladiatorial games which he had no chances of winning.

But Milo survived due to his combative skills and the champion named Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye) became an ally. As the movie progressed, Milo was seen fighting for his life alongside his ally—Atticus.

Now….a problem arose. Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii erupted (A volcanic eruption which was highly explosive). Panic was seen on the faces of the people in the city of Pompeii as the eruption intensified, with lava bombs falling on the city, destroying lives and properties.
People tried fleeing but were trapped by falling debris…this eruption triggered a Tsunami.

Unfortunately Cassia lost her parents in the avalanche and got abducted by Corvus. Would Milo be able to save Cassia's life and his'?

Find out in Pompeii, one of the bloodiest movies of the decade!

Character review-
Besides the handsome sculptures which Milo undeniably has, Milo's strength and boldness was another thing I admired.
He was so fearless, calm yet firm. I would say he was a gem that shone through.

Cassia! another character I adored so much. Her elegance and her courage as a lady was highly applaudable.

If you do not have the stomach for bloody sights, this movie might not be for you. But it is a masterpiece, the cinematography is out of this world. A good watch if you ask me.

I'll be rating this masterpiece a 9 out of 10.

Thank you for reading!
