I came across this movie on Netflix sometime ago and kept skipping to watch it because, from the title Inventing Anna, I thought maybe it would be a movie that has to do with maybe a robot, so I wasn't really interested, but after going through different movies I wanted to watch on Monday and couldn't find anything I wanted, so I decided to settle for it after reading the summary on Netflix.
About The Movie
Inventing Anna is a Netflix series with 9 episodes. The movie is based on the true-life story of Anna Sorokin, a Russian-born con artist who pretended to be a wealthy German heiress named Anna Delvey when she went to New York, although there were some modifications in the series.
Anna had this charm and charisma that made everyone around her like her. Anna lived an expensive lifestyle, dressing in an expensive way. She was living the dream life of a lot of young people and adults in her early twenties, moving from one 5-star hotel to another, traveling to different locations for vacation, and having connections with the elite.
Her lifestyle made a lot of people believe her, so it was easy for her to defraud and manipulate and scam many of New York's elite out of their thousands of dollars.
There was also Vivian Kent, a journalist who was so obsessed with the Anna story that she would do anything just to uncover the truth behind Anna's fake identity. Vivian Kent and some of her colleagues that were helping to dig deep into the story were surprised by the many lies Anna had told and how deceitful she was.
My Review
I must say that the series for me is very interesting; the actress Julia Garner, who played Anna Delvey, really did a great job. The way she kept her face and her accent was really captivating for me.After watching this series, I went online to read more about Anna's real life, and I was shocked by some reviews I saw.
A lot of people were criticizing the movie; they said it wasn't consistent. I like how Anna is. I was captivated by her brilliance, and I wished she used her brain to do something really good that she would be remembered for instead of defrauding people. For a young lady her age to be able to ingratiate herself into the lives of New York elites, then I must say that she's really smart and a genius. It's just so sad she channeled it into a wrong place.Such a brain should be doing great things and impacting lives positively.
Vivian Kent, the journalist, also made the movie interesting with how determined she was to crack everything about Anna.I know the series has been criticized by a lot of people, mostly people that felt like Anna was being portrayed as a sympathetic figure, but even at that, I still enjoyed every bit of it, with its different twists and turns that kept me glued to my screen.

I would recommend this if only you are interested in true crime stories; trust me, "Inventing Anna" is worth watching. And i would rate it a 4/5
