Comparative characteristics of the Bale-Nolan trilogy with the previous four films.

While I liked the earlier Batman films, their atmospheres were not very appealing to me: bleak and gray in the Michael Keaton ones, a mixture of bleak, gray and bizarre in the Val Kilmer and Geoge Clooney ones. In contrast, the atmosphere of a decaying but realistic Gotham that is not gray, but has its darks and lights, is a better place for both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

Similarly, the antagonists of the previous films do not reach the level of danger that those of director Nolan do. The Joker's value in the first is only (albeit very well for that) in the personal relationship he has with Batman: "I made you. You made me first." But the Joker that the reboot will give us will cause serious and permanent damage to Batman and will also force him to fall into falsehood to prevent the Joker from winning.

Similarly, The Penguin, Two-Face, The Riddler, Freeze, Poison Ivy (not to mention the quasi-zombie Bane), even when they put Batman on the spot, they are quite deranged and it always seems that Batman will be able to win without serious consequences, while the coldly calculating respective leaders of The League of Shadows from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises give the impression that an absolute victory of Batman would be very difficult.

Catwoman, on the other hand, is a good point for both stages, as both fill the respective roles their characters required in each film very well (and it seems to me that Hathaway's performance is a bit underrated). Also both Alfreds play very good roles.

But Commissioner Gordon is an absolute plus for the reboot: he is almost non-existent in the previous ones, but has leading roles in all three reboot films, very well executed by Gary Oldman.

Robin: the one in the previous ones is not a great Robin, although he is not horrible either; on the other hand, there is no real Robin in Nolan's films, but he could hardly have fit in Nolan's.

More present soundtrack: the main Batman themes of the previous ones are very good, but the new ones have more variety, a better adaptation to the scenes and a certain imposingness bigger than in the previous ones (although I love the Batman Theme of the first two, it's very hummable).

A more interesting Bruce in the reboot, as there is not much of Bruce in the previous movies except his love interests, but Bale's Bruce interacts with more people and with more variety (also a great plus is the character of Lucius Fox, who in the films interacts almost exclusively with Bruce).

More memorable dialogues from both Batman and his antagonists in the reboot series.

Best action: both in choreography and in Batman's display of technology (the tumbler, the batpod, the bat...).

Finally: unless someone has a specific preference for the grim style of Batman and Batman returns or the grim-strange style of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin (or the camp humor of Adam West), the reboot of the Batman movies with Christian Bale directed by Christopher Nolan generally surpassed the previous movies in all aspects even though, as I said, I liked the previous ones, but the reboot took the Batman character to his highest level (and I also prefer Bale's Batman over Affleck's, but that's another reboot later on).

A hero can be anyone!

Características comparadas de la trilogía Bale-Nolan con las cuatro películas anteriores.

Mientras que los Batman anteriores me gustaron, sus ambientes no me resultaban muy atractivos: sombríos y grises en las de Michael Keaton, mezcla de sombrío, gris y estrafalariedad en las de Val Kilmer y Geoge Clooney. En contraste, el ambiente de una Gotham en decadencia pero realista y no gris, sino que tiene sus oscuros y sus luces, resulta un mejor lugar tanto para Batman como para Bruce Wayne.

Similarmente, los antagonistas de las anteriores no llegan al nivel de peligrosidad que los del director Nolan. El valor del Joker en la primera está sólo (aunque muy bien) en la relación personal que tiene con Batman: “Yo te herí. Pero tú lo hiciste primero”. Pero el Joker que nos dará el reboot causará graves y permanentes daños a Batman y lo forzará además a caer en la falsedad para evitar que el Joker gane.

Similarmente, El Pinguino, Dos caras, El acertijo, Frío, Hiedra Venenosa (ni hablar del cuasizombi Bane), aun cuando ponen en aprietos a Batman, están bastante trastornados y siempre parece que Batman podrá ganar sin graves consecuencias, mientras que los fríamente calculadores respectivos líderes de La liga de las Sombras de Batman Begins y The Dark Knight Rises dan la impresión de que una victoria absoluta de Batman sería muy difícil.

Catwoman, por el contrario, es un buen punto para ambas etapas, ya que ambas cumplen muy bien los roles respectivos que requerían sus personajes en esas películas (y me parece que la actuación de Hathaway está un poco subestimada). También ambos Alfred hacen muy buenos papeles.

Pero el comisionado Gordon es un punto a favor absoluto para el reboot: es casi inexistente en las anteriores, pero tiene papeles protagonistas en las tres películas del reboot, muy bien ejecutados por Gary Oldman.

Robin: el de las anteriores no es un gran robin, aunque tampoco es algo horrible; por contra, no hay un verdadero Robin en las de Nolan, pero difícilmente podría haber encajado en sus películas.

Soundtrack más presente: los temas principales de Batman de la anteriores están muy bien, pero las nuevas tienen más variedad, un mayor amolde a las escenas y una cierta imponencia mayor que en las anteriores (aunque me encanta el Batman Theme de las primeras dos, es muy tarareable).

Un Bruce más interesante en el reboot, ya que del Bruce de las anteriores poco más hay excepto sus intereses amorosos, pero el de Bale interactúa con más personas y con más variedad (gran acierto también el personaje de Lucius Fox, quien en las películas interactúa casi únicamente con Bruce).

Mejor acción: tanto en coreografías como en el despliegue de tecnología de Batman (el tumbler, the batpod, the bat...)

En resumen: salvo por que alguien tenga una preferencia específica por el estilo sombrío de las dos primeras o por el estilo sombrío-estrafalario de las 3 y 4 (o el humor camp de Adam West), el reboot de películas de Batman con Christian Bale dirigidas por Christopher Nolan superó en general en todos aspectos a las anteriores películas aun cuando, como ya dije, esas anteriores me habían gustado, pero las del reboot llevaron al personaje de Batman a su máximo nivel (y también prefiero al Batman de Bale sobre el de Affleck, pero ese ya es otro reboot posterior).

¡Cualquiera puede ser un héroe!
