So in my last post I talked about how much I like thriller movies and did a little review about "The witness". This time, following that same path I bring another korean thriller film that I really like and that maybe you can enjoy.

Released in 2012 and Directed by Kim Hwi. The Neighbors tells a story about the residents of an apartment complex that come with the knowledge that there's a serial killer living among them. And they must find who is it before he strikes again.

Despite having many protagonists, it focuses in two families: The first one, has just lost their child in hands of this killer, and the second one has a girl that looks exactly like the dead one, making her the upcoming victim.

My review: 5/5.

This is my favorite movie of this genre; for starters it has an amazing cast in the main roles such as Kim Sung Kyun (Reply 1994, Reply 1988 and others), Kim Sae Rom (High School Love On! and others) Jang Young Nam (It's okay not to be Okay and others) and Ma Dong Seok who you may have seen in many korean movies and more recently in Marvel's Eternals as Gilgamesh. It's really top tier.

Their acting here is 10/10, everyone plays their role marvelously, though my favorites are Kim Sung Kyun and Jang Young Nam. Sung Kyun plays our "villain" and he does make you believe he's a sociopath with his acting, you actually feel scared of him and as we move with the film, all of his anxiety about not getting caught while still killing people becomes really palpable, also the feeling of his guiltyness and paranoia about killing Yeo Sun (played by Sae Rom) and finding Soo Yun (played by Sae Rom as well) who looks exactly like her is very well portrayed as well.

Jang Young Nam plays the role of Yeo Sun step mom, and in this movie we see her filled with guilt about not saving her step-daughter, questioning herself about if there was really something she could do or if she hadn't actually saved her because Yoo Sun wasn't her own blood-related child. Despite having this guilty side, we also see her as a strong woman who's determined to find the culprit and at least give justice to her deceased daughter.

This movie really hits home, considering all the cases of missing woman and children reported lately (at least on this part of the continent), makes you evaluate about how much do you really know the people who surround you and if what we know as "safe place" can be considered as if, since the one who are closer to us, in front view can also be the ones that hurt us the most.

Also when it comes to the executions, it's portrayed in very good manner, since they tell us from the beginning who's the killer, how he killed the child, where he has the body and all the details and the next hour is just anxiously waiting for him to get caught.

It's definitely worth a watch. If you wanna give it a try, you can buy it on Amazon.

Also, thank you so much for reading my review. It means a lot, so read you next time!
