Hello. In this education post, I want to cover the topic of self correction and fixing your mistakes.
The motivation behind this post is based on my math educational services job. We teach students to fix their own mistakes before submitting their work. Also educators have to self correct their own work if there are errors in our own teaching and work.
Self correction is not limited to mathematics but it can be applied to everyday scenarios like writing, cooking and communication.
Mistakes Do Happen
It is important to remind ourselves that we are not perfect. Mistakes do happen. Some mistakes are small while some can be big.
When it comes to student work, some mistakes can be avoided. A greater amount of focus and care would decrease the likelihood of mistakes. There is also checking your own work before submitting an assignment or test to be graded. Students are encouraged to take their time in checking their own work to fix any typos, messy writing or incorrect math calculations in their work.

Self Awareness & Dropping Ego
A big part of self correction in student work is self awareness and dropping egos. If a mistake is made, it does not mean that the student is flawed. You can try again and fix things until the work is at a good level or the answer is right.
One trap a student (or even an adult) can make is that they never make mistakes and their work is always good. Then it is realized that the work is not good or it has many typos, spelling and grammar mistakes. After the realization, the denial phase kicks in where there is frustration and maybe bad words spoken.
Catching yourself making a mistake before submitting a test or an assignment can make a big difference. Sometimes one mistake can be the difference between a grade of A to a grade of A minus or from B+ to B minus. It is recommended for a student to self check their work, fix any typos/mistakes and incorrect calculations.

Thank you very much.
Students get to improve when they make mistakes and correct themselves with the help of teachers, no good student that won't make mistakes
