Planning as a guide to work

in Educationlast year

Hello dear friends

As we well know, many activities have returned to a new normality, particularly in my case after a long time, in the institution where I work we are returning to face-to-face classes, this due to the pandemic and the conditions in which the infrastructure of the university was, which has been rescued in large part and has had great receptivity from the students, which has led to the registration of a greater number of people to soon begin their studies at the higher level, as well as the opening of new sections of different subjects.

In the first semesters of chemical, mechanical and industrial engineering, which belong to the area of technology, the subjects that require the largest number of teachers are basically chemistry, physics and mathematics, so these subjects should be handled in coordination to work in an organized manner, avoiding improvisation, and additionally constitutes a guide for teachers when preparing their weekly classes.

That is why in this opportunity I want to highlight the importance of planning, being this a fundamental process in education, to which it is necessary to dedicate the necessary time since it connects the objectives, contents, educational strategies, materials, evaluation, among others.

In this particular case, planning is carried out taking into account several aspects that can serve as a guide.

Planning time is done per semester, which includes sixteen weeks of classes. The subjects are attended in two class sessions per week, each one consisting of two academic hours and in the case of practical work, once a week with a duration of three academic hours.

Participation in the elaboration of the planning. First of all, a coordination meeting is held with the teachers to discuss different points among them the content to be covered based on the instructional design of the subject, the evaluation plan, punctuation, number and types of evaluations, strategies, available resources, among others, in order to reach the respective agreements and take into account the different opinions.

Planning format. Once the coordination meeting is held, the information is compiled and organized in a format previously designed by the head and sent to the respective e-mails, as well as the grading forms, among others, so that all teachers share and manage the same information.

Planning progress percentages. There is also a format where the percentages of progress of the subject per teacher are registered, which allows making decisions during the semester and making the pertinent changes.

Information to the student. In the first class session it is important to provide the student with the planning, which will allow them to know the content to be studied by subject, type of evaluation, evaluation dates or activities, among others.

Teachers are responsible for planning and fulfilling what is planned, ensuring educational quality, better management of time and resources, motivation in students, order, teamwork and guidance in what is done, so it should not be neglected or subtract the importance it has.

Well friends, this is the end of this post, I hope the information is useful, thanks for reading!
