Voting on projects to help end homelessness in San Jose CA

in ecoTrain2 years ago

This is a very different topic from what I usually post about, but
I recently read a post contest asking what changes are needed in my local area. I thought about it, and decided on voting for affordable housing, and building new homeless shelters.

Here is a hotel close to where I live, there is an active proposal to turn it into affordable housing units or a homeless shelter.

This hotel has 89 rooms that is going through proposal to be converted into extremely affordable housing or a shelter. I am joining the discussion online to inquire about the pros and cons and to input my opinions.

This is only the beginning of my actions to help change the city I live in. My other action is to work with activists to help push for more multi family residential zones. A huge part of why there is a lot of homeless is because of there is a lot of single home zones rather than a multi-unit zone due to regulations. This map below shows a small portion of San Jose that has a lot of single family unit zones compared to multi-unit zones.

I am an activist to support building more homes, or being able to have more people in the zones. My goals are to educate people near me, and push them to vote for more density zones. Thanks for reading.
