QOTW-Season10-2.jpg

Welcome back to this Question Of The Week! As I'm sure everyone is aware, climate change is one of the key issues that affects our entire planet and has the potential to impact our lives in many ways. Rising sea levels threaten to displace millions of people, and increasing dry hot weather are causing forest fires to become ever more dangerous and destructive. Tornadoes and hurricanes are also getting worse and in the past decade we have seen entire cities almost wiped out in the USA, and when these atrocities hit there is nothing that can be done to prevent them, it is too late! There are SO many different aspects to climate change that it is hard to know which ones we should be focussing on or considering the greatest threat. Likewise, there are so many different causes of climate change that even our scientists have a hard time agreeing on which actions humanity perform that cause the most harm to our environment and climate. Some people think it is the use of fossil fuels, others say it is the eating of meat, and many people focus on transport such as flights. Then of course there are some who believe that climate change is not even man made and would continue regardless of our actions!

This week we ask you what you think are the biggest causes of our changing climate, and more importantly what you think we could do differently to help to reduce and even reverse this trend of rising global temperatures and worsening weather. Your answer does not have to fit the published statistics of what is generally considered to be the worse causes since no one can really agree what they are. Instead I invite you to share the things that you think humanity does that cause the most damage from what you see and know from your own experience and knowledge.

Please feel free to focus on anything that you consider to be an issue.. The reasons you choose do NOT have to be the biggest causes of climate change, but instead things that you think are important and perhaps even not often talked about. There are so many things we can change in this world, and most of it starts with our actions and choices. Decentralisation is one such example, whereby buying and sourcing things locally instead of from huge centralised companies could well lead to a huge decrease in transport and often destructive methods of sourcing raw materials. The bigger the company, the more damage they do as they try to obtain vast quantities of things to make the products we buy.

Great. I shall be expecting your entry 😉

Are you asking this question like, we as a society, or we as individuals, or you'll take either or both answers?

Its up to you as you wish!

well climate change directly not in our hand but indirectly yes we can contribute to it by planting more trees or plants.

Climate change is directly in your hands? xD We can do such much stuff to help and to refuce our emissions.

Ohh man. I am going to have a feel day wit this question :p

Great, @ecotrain and close to my heart! I will definitely write one and see how it works. Thank you!

It really makes me sad that so many people see this world as a place of limited resources and dying when the opposite is true. It is a world of infinite resources and plenty for everyone. If they would turn off the TV and start to trust their own intuition, this world would be such a better place.

 2 years ago (edited)

interesting comment! maybe you can explain what you mean? This post and question have nothing to do with what you are referring to.. i.e resources or the planet dying.. Did you even read the post before DV'ing on listnerds?

There is only enough for everyone when we learn to use the right resources, we do so responsibly and in the right way.. which is Very far from what is happening today in the mainstream.

Fossil fuels are limited and yet still the primary source of power in most countries.

Trees are not only limited but the forests they cut down take 100s of years to grow..
I could go on, but i don't quite get your point.. or why its on this post

This is called "sophistry". I was just shocked after reading your article and felt compelled to write the comment. I wish you well in your endeavours and didn't mean to trigger you. I love the idea of the environmentally friendly community you are building.

ok, well i do find it strange as i really do know what i am talking about and your comment didn't seem to relate to the question or my post.. i do understand that many people dont understand what is going on in the world.. but this is a question to help improve this awareness.

why dont you join us and post about what you think and share your knowledge..

and yes i do get triggered when people make assumptions about me, and comment things that indicate they did not take the time to read or understand the sentiment of the writing.

I think there's a misunderstanding? I'm a big fan of off-grid living and making the world a better place.

Best wishes.

also sophistry is relating to misleading people.. im not sure how you come to that conclusion from this post.. i have shared some very simple facts, and then put a call to action for people to share their opinions. i have not even stated any opinion on this .. so im quite puzzled and really do wonder if you even read the post or just made a whole load of assumptions based on your feelings about the topic

are you reading the same post as me?

 2 years ago (edited)

well that is what i was wondering.. maybe you can quote me something that seems off to you? i have no idea what you are referring to.. i have stated a few simple facts, nothing more .. and left the door open..

i would like to understand your point, as im pretty confused what your issue is.

Important topic to analyze, and what a good initiative that allows us to give our opinion on something that concerns us all.
Greetings

An interesting question. We can all do something to minimize the impact of climate change, small actions make a difference. Here is my participation. Thank you for stimulating us to think every week.

Hello everyone! Here's my entry to this week's question --
https://ecency.com/hive-123046/@kemmyb/ecotrain-qotw-10-2-or

Maybe I am still talking about the common ones, but I still consider them not to be common as those are not ACTUALLY implemented completely. Here is my post, QOTW#10.2: Is it too late?

I find the questions of the week excellent, then I leave the link of my participation, you have an excellent weekend.
