The Odette typhoon that happened a week ago was like a bomb. Houses destroyed, water supplies damaged, electric supplies cut, and everything. We can live without electricity but we can't live without water. Due to technology nowadays we always rely on it and that's the reason when electricity will be absent. The way of living will be ruined most especially the water supply.

Not long ago, I visited a certain small village in the province of Southern Leyte. A little bit far from the center of civilization but not on a mountainside. However, because it doesn't reach the help of the government so fast due to its location. The people there rely on nature, spring water where they can get water for their daily needs.

Since I was there I lived like them and experienced going to the spring where to get water. I caught this boy fetching water from the spring. Using a 1.5-liter bottle of plastic he fetched water 3 times. I don't know where his parents are but one thing I'm sure of. He helped his parents by fetching water.
He was not the one who was doing it but a lot of children, adults, and oldies were doing the same. Any type of plastic bottles to store water and bring it into their houses.

Upon spending more time in that spring I witnessed this boy washing clothes. Not long ago he was fetching water as well and when he returned he started washing clothes.

I enjoyed watching him doing it but of course, I felt a bit sad watching him doing it. Knowing he's just a little boy, the basin full of clothes he was carrying went to that spring and returned home. Even so, I could tell how kind this boy doing a chore like this is despite his young age.

I know this is normal because of what happened. Even so, it touched my heart to see the heavy kind of lifestyle because of the typhoon. Even me or my family was also affected but comparing myself to them who are doing things like this. I consider myself lucky since the water supply in our house was not cut. Just ignore the broken house because someday it will be fixed soon. Water is very important and we all know how to use it every single time.

What makes it sadder is the fact that only rich people or the people who are in the position can only benefit from the donation or the help from other people. The middle class or the poor people are barely reached with the help of others or from the government. It's better to reach them personally instead of letting other people help them with the help of others. In that way, we can be so sure that the help we want to give will reach them for sure.

I hope there will be people who are kind enough to do that with a good heart to give effort in helping others. At least they can have light work compared to this.

Don't be sad about it. They are more lucky than the city without streams and even water manual pump. I lived like that when I was young fetching water. The place is blessed. Water means life.
